I want to be dermatologist?

I am a Jr. in high school %26amp; I am looking at options. I am taking cosmetology and will have my licence by the time I graduate %26amp; Idk if that will even help me in the dermatology feild or not but I was wondering if anyone knew how long I would have to go to school what I would have to major in... ect?I want to be dermatologist?
Cosmetology will not help you.

PRE-medicine or Podiatic Medicine leads to a professional degree.

Students often choose majors in chemistry or biology because they must take several classes in these fields. However, medical schools are also impressed by students with diverse interests. For example, if you have a passion for music, you may want to indulge it before concentrating on your medical studies. As long as you fulfill all of the prerequisite courses for med school, feel free to choose a non-science major.

AP庐 Biology

AP Calculus AB

AP Chemistry

English

Health science

Physics

You should intern at a hospital or another medical facility amd volunteer with a health organization.

And spend lots of time -- on top of a full course load -- preparing for the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT), a required element of the med school application.

To get into med school, you鈥檒l need to complete a full year of organic chemistry. In lecture and lab, you鈥檒l study the building blocks of life: molecules of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen.

Overall at least, seven years that combines undergraduate and medical studies and culminates in an M.D. will help you in becoming a dermatogolist. Plus at least three years of residency (on-the-job training) to become certified.I want to be dermatologist?
Cosmetology won't help you at all. It is a complete waste of time for someone who wants to be a dermatologist.

What will help you is taking lots of math, science and AP classes so that you can go to the best university possible.

To become a Dermatologist, you will have to:

1. Go to college, where you must take all the Pre-Med classes. It is always a good idea to do more than what is required -- so you should major in biology or chemistry.

2. As a senior in college, take the MCAT test and apply to medical schools.

3. Spend four years in medical school getting an MD or a DO.

4. After graduating from medical school, spend a year as a medical intern.

5. Then spend three years as a dermatological resident.

6. Following your residency, take an exam to become board certified.

If all goes well, you should be a board certified dermatologist by the time you are 30.
