How do dermatologists get rid of warts?

I've heard they either freeze them off, or burn them off? or even laser remove them?

do any of these methods hurt? How do dermatologists get rid of warts?
Yes, those methods can hurt and they can also be expensive. I don't think that there are any ways to get rid of warts that are completely pain free, but there are ways to get rid of them that cost a lot less than at the dermatologist.

Good luck. How do dermatologists get rid of warts?
they use nitrogen to freeze it i think it hurts

Compound W helps a lot too if you apply it in the wart
My brother had to go to the doctor and they put blistering beetle juice on them. After a few hours, the warts started to blister and pop. He kept a band- aid on them for a few days and they were gone. By the way, all of the treatments you listed above are also options.

Can i see a dermatologist?

i wanted to see a dermatologist so i asked my doctor to write a referral letter but she refused and said i only have a small problem of eczema and hair loss and some lines on forehead (wrinkles) and dermatologist only sees patients with bigger problems. by the way, anyone knows where i can see a dermatologist and how much does it cost to see one? i live in Australia, Melbourne inner city area. please give full details thanks! Can i see a dermatologist?
Now Id say get a new Dr. That is a lousy comment to make to your patient. They are supposed to support what you want, not slam you.

Call your medical insurance customer service # Or Yahoo yellow pages online for your area...Can i see a dermatologist?
you dont have to have 'big problems' to see a dermatologist!

if your eczema is interfering with your life or you have questions, it is suggested you see one. i'm not sure if they even have insurance in australia, but, if you do, and if you have insurance,

it should cover the costs of dermatologist appointments, [it depends on your health insurance, its best to check up on it beforehand.]

wish you the best of luck. :]

  • I know dermatologists say that pore reducing creams don't work, but is there a medical procedure that will?

What kinds of medical procedures are used to reduce pore size? Maybe professional microdermabrasion or lasering?

Do you know links to any ';before and afters'; for reference?I know dermatologists say that pore reducing creams don't work, but is there a medical procedure that will?
I have tried professional microdermabrasion and it did work on my pores, i highly recommend it to anyone interested. if it doesn't work (and trust me, chances of that are slim), at least you will have a fresh, younger looking face at the end of the treatment.I know dermatologists say that pore reducing creams don't work, but is there a medical procedure that will?
I have problems with visible pores too. I tried chemical peeling like glycolic acid peeling. It helps to reduce visible pores with continue using creams recommended by dermatologist.
I also have them... and have had amazing results with cold (freezing) water to rinse my face cleanser off. I use Neutragena visibly clear cleanser.
you can pay a dermatologist for microdermabration, but even they will tell you not to waste your money. the at home kits are just as good. i like the nutregena one

Need to see dermatologist but no insurance...help please?

I'm in dire need of seeing a dermatologist but cannot afford insurance at this time. I know prices without insurance are pretty ridiculous so are there any other options to consider?Need to see dermatologist but no insurance...help please?
depends where you go, for the dermatologist office across the parking lot that i work for, i know that if you dont have insurance, you can be listed as self pay for the visit, then you can set up payment plans with patient financial services. and some ppl make their payments as low as they need them...like $20 a month or so. idk what state ur from, but you can also try gateway, amerihealth mercy, or unison.Need to see dermatologist but no insurance...help please?
If your a student sometimes you can get student insurance. Or why dont you try going down to the Social Services office and try getting on Medical if you have kids.

How do i get rid of my birthmarks without going to the dermatologists?

i have a large birthmark running from my back to my knees. Im not sure if its what you'd actually consider a birthmark. its just that there is an ';over pigmentation'; on that part of my body. it seems as if im hiding a map on my limbs! its not hideous but id like to get rid of it. i dont have much money so im asking what id do with this without even going to the dermatologist or whoever. How do i get rid of my birthmarks without going to the dermatologists?
Birthmarks like that are actually pretty easily removed by having laser surgery.

If you are under 18, you may be able to get it removed quite cheaply, as there are programs that fund things like this.

If you are over 18, you will have to pay for it yourself, but like I say, it can be removed quite easily and laser surgery on the skin is really painless.

They give you a gas mask thing and you are out cold the whole time. The area will be sensitive for a bit afterwards and you may need to do it in several rounds if the birthmark is large, but it may be worth it if it is something that will boost your self-esteem.

Good luck! How do i get rid of my birthmarks without going to the dermatologists?
thats a mark of your birth dont get rid of it
you can't not without lasers or skin bleaching. you could try covering it up with a tattoo.
wear it like a badge of honor.
Be proud of it, n make it a talkin point to any man u interested in. Tell them u got a map tattooed on your back, follow the trail to discover the hidden treasure. Yummy!! what a game. I'll b in it for sure :)

On a serious note , i hope u find a cure for it otherwise use my suggestion hehehe. good luck
They probably won't go away, but you can try esoterica. It's what the elderly put on their age spots.
    it's very unlikely that you're going to be able to get rid of it... hence the name ';birthmark';
Its not possible. Thats why its called a birth mark.
You shouldn't try to get rid of them on your own because if you pick on them they could cause very serious health problems. Unfortunately the active ingredient in Porcelana and Esoterica, hydroquinone, will not work on birthmarks, but it does work very well on pigmentation problems. See a dermatologist; if he says that he suspects something is wrong with the birthmarks, your insurance will pay for their removal and biopsy.
i think you should see a doc, i cant really tell what to do without seeing it.

it could be a high melanin pigmentation or it could be worst, sclerosis.

i would only be able to tell you on proper examination.

so i suggest you send a pic or go to a doc.

i am sure no one can exactly tell you
Y would you wanna get rid of what god gave you?!?!? Just wondering I have no birth marks but I have a lot of freckles and ppl say they make me look cute and preppy! I like the compliments
I DONT KNOW WISH I KNEW...

  • Seeing a dermatologist.. what do they do?

im going to see a dermatologist on tuesday because ive had acne since i was like 12, and im now 18. Ive tried loads of products etc so anyway, was just wondering what i need to take or anything to prepare for it.

What will they do at the appointment?Seeing a dermatologist.. what do they do?
In the case of acne the dermatologist will establish the diagnosis and severity just by looking at your skin.

The options for managing acne are limited, if the condition is moderate and you have not recently had a 3 month period on this consultant's favourite antibiotic, (whichever this is), he will offer this option first. If all antibiotics have failed to give control he may move straight to offering you Roaccutane. This is very effective, but does have side effects. In this case he will want to take blood for a full work up, before prescribing this drug for you, it cannot be supplied by GPs.Seeing a dermatologist.. what do they do?
They'll hack chunks of flesh from your face to do tests on them.

Preparation? I'd say half a tub of aspirin to numb the pain.

they charge depending on your insurance, i pay 30 because thats my copay. just check your insurance card Report Abuse

Yes, but a less expensive and great alternative would be proactive.

You can use it on your back or face, anywhere acne is, and unlike some products that promise results but don't do anything for you, this stuff really works.
Yes, of course a dermatologist would clear up your acne. That's what they do.

How Much Do Most Dermatologists usually cost?

I know we all have different dermatologists and different insurance, but usually, how much do they cost? How Much Do Most Dermatologists usually cost?

Losing hair. should I see a dermatologist?

my scalp is always dry and itchy. I shampoo all the time and deep condt. I also have hair loss around my temples and breakage on the top of my head. should I see a dermatologist?Losing hair. should I see a dermatologist?
as a stylist i would send you to your doctor right away. We can't diagnose but we know when things aren't right. So absolutely. hair loss in sections of the hair is not a good sign, especially if your a woman. it could be fungal, or even have something to do with your thyroid, just get it checked out if all is well great, but you need to take care of yourself. Remember also, when something is wrong in the body, it will give you visual signs especially in the eyes, skin, and hair.Losing hair. should I see a dermatologist?
    yes you should
yes, this might be serious, u should c a dermatologist,be safe than sorry
I was told it is not good to wash your hair everyday if you happen to have a day that you are home don't wash.
    Hi,

You should stop using shampoo and conditioner immediately as it could be doing more harm than good. There are many hair loss treatment products available on the internet.

The hair loss treatment below is a product that an old friend recommended to me and it has really helped me.

The product shows both male and females how to strengthen, restore AND revitalize hair naturally without side effects.

    I hope it helps you.
first of all stop shampooing immediately! thats what causes baldness! just use a mild conditioner, second of all take a multi-vitamin and start eating a healthier diet with fruits and vegetables! you'll see your hair transform!!

i need to see a dermatologist i have medicaid and no one will take the insurance here in nj (deptford area)I have mediciad insuarance and my dermatologist will not take it i can not afford her fees?
thats unusal my dermatologist in my area takes my medicaid.I have mediciad insuarance and my dermatologist will not take it i can not afford her fees?
Go back to your family doctor, explain what's happening, and ask for a second referral.

Then, try reporting this to your state's medical board.
This one is simple. Call the 1-800 or the 1-888 number on the back of your medicaid card and they representitive will give you a list of dermatologists that ';DO'; except medicaid. They will do this for Ob/Gyn, Dentists, Chiropractors, Oral Surgeons, etc. Hope this helps!
try a local clinic. I am in CA but I have a clinic i go to because I cant afford insurance. Theres something called CMSP and some dermatologists in this area take that. Its Medi-Cal. That may be here in California but there might be something similar in your area.

Has anybody here ever visit the dermatologist???

    How much did you spent?

    What treatment did you get?

ThanksHas anybody here ever visit the dermatologist???
my insurance pays for it so i have no idea..im sure it is expensive though.

i get tons of perscriptions for creams, ointments, oils, and even pills [most of it for my acne]

my dermatologist saved my life! i am now 100% acne free..if you are having a skin/nail/hair problem, you should def. see one!

about the mild acne: yes, they can still prescribe a topical cream/or face wash for mild acne. believe me, dermatologists have the good stuff drugstores dont have.Has anybody here ever visit the dermatologist???
I was examined for eczema which I have had all my life. She recommended a cream that I use that was under a prescription.

The visit cost me nothing as I live in Canada and the prescription cost me $2.00 as I am over 65 and seniors only pay that price only here in Canada.
I have been to get moles removed. My daughter has been to have acne treatment. My son has been to have warts cured. I LOVE what a dermatologist can do!

An office visit is at least $50-$75. If any treatment is done, it is usually about $125 and up, depending on what is done. When the dermatologist extracted my daughter's stubborn blackheads, it cost me around $150, but worth every penny.

Fastest way to get a dermatologist?

i just started breaking out with acne and i been on accutane twice and the acne is really bad, i have blood stains all over my pillow, and I have center care but they tell me i need a referral and I need to wait over a month get an appointment and I guess in two months to see the dermatologist and i dont want scaring to occur and I haveing blodd stains on my sheets. my health care plan i need a referral and it takes forever : (((Fastest way to get a dermatologist?
Your General Practitioner can call and get you an appointment much faster than if you called the dermatologist yourself.

So i went to the doctor to ask for a dermatologist...?

At first she asked me what i wanted and i said, ';i want to see a dermatologist'; and she said, ';ok'; so she asked me questions and i answered but then she left and never came back...

    I don't get it?!

She did asked for my number..

Has this happened to anyone, if so, what happens next? Is she gonna call?So i went to the doctor to ask for a dermatologist...?
i had the same problem last year, it turned out that i had to go to the hospital to see this dermatologist and it was because of waiting lists etc that i didn't recieve an appointment with a dermotologist until 2 months later. but the best thing you can do is ring your doctors just to check that they have referred you and that you are definately going to recieve an appointment at some stage. So i went to the doctor to ask for a dermatologist...?
What you wanted was for the doctor to refer you to a dermatologist.

If you have a skin issue that you feel the medical practitioner should refer you to a specialist like a dermatologist then I don't get it why you weren't given one. The doctor could have recommended a good one or have said to you why or why not you should see one.

I'm as surprised as you about that attitude.
You should have asked someone in charge of scheduling appointments to see a dermatologist. Not just go to a regular doctor and tell them to get you a dermatologist.
Just go to a dermatologist? Why would you go to a doctor if you want a dermatologist?
No, this sounds like bad customer service. Just go back and try asking a different person.

  • Will dermatologists prescribe accutane to a patient without severe nodular acne?

I've had acne for about 6 years now and I'm fed up with it. I did go see a dermatologist about a year ago, and he refused to give me accutane. My parents as well refused to let me use the drug because my family has a history of suicide. I have gone through every over-the-counter drug, and also about 3-4 different prescribed pills to help my problem. Proactive has worked somewhat, but only on my face, while I have it on my neck and back.

Since I am 18 now, i want to see a dermatologist on my own so I won't need parental permission to use the drug, however I do not have my own insurance. Any advice toward my problem will be a big help. Will dermatologists prescribe accutane to a patient without severe nodular acne?
Accutane, a chemical cousin of vitamin A, is prescribed for the treatment of severe, disfiguring cystic acne that has not cleared up in response to milder medications such as antibiotics. It works on the oil glands within the skin, shrinking them and diminishing their output. You take Accutane by mouth every day for several months, then stop. The antiacne effect can last even after you have finished your course of medication. Will dermatologists prescribe accutane to a patient without severe nodular acne?
Okay i am 15 and have acne on my face and it's very disgusting.. :( my face used to look the smoothest and clearest skin ever.. but now, :(( huhu .. goodluck to us!
i would stear clear from accutane!!! first of all it is extremely expensive and even IF you had your own insurance you would pay a couple hundred dollars a month for meds.. it makes you very violant, you have to have your blood drawn every couple weeks, and you have to be approved by like 3 different doctors to even go on the drug and it takes over a year i believe to clear your acne.. and if you were to conceive a child it would come out mentally retarted and have a cone shaped head.. accutane is some major **** that you need to stay away from.. my ex had to take it and we ended up breaking up over this drug because it messes with your life

    aloe

What has the dermatologist give you or prescribe to you when you go? have you heard of injections for acne?

Never heard of injections. For my brother they tried a bunch of different creams. Another friend of mine took some sort of pill for hers as well as the creams. What has the dermatologist give you or prescribe to you when you go? have you heard of injections for acne?
My sister's kids (all 4 of them have bad acne)

The one daughter received cortisol shots and it worked. What has the dermatologist give you or prescribe to you when you go? have you heard of injections for acne?
No I haven't!! What do you get injected?

I've had an antibiotic and a cleanser called Plexion(with sulfur) prescribed to me.
I've been given RetinA, soaps and clindamycin. I think cortisone injection are used on people with severe acne.
HAVE had patients that were prescribed tetracycline for acne, never heard of injections though.

Can you buy those tools that dermatologists use to pop black heads?

If not, is there anything else that will let me get the black heads out of my chin and nose. I've tried every astringent and face wash out there, and they help, but i still have a ton of them. Can you buy those tools that dermatologists use to pop black heads?
steam your face gently for about ten minutes till it sweats and then they will be soft enought to remove with two fingers, maybe put some soothing stuff (mild disinfectant)on afterwards to help stop scarring.maybe you have large pores, i would not squeeze the ones on your nose justuse proactive perhaps. Can you buy those tools that dermatologists use to pop black heads?
you can but a but to be honest i use a bobby pin its pretty much the same as one fo the tools that they use.
Actually I wouldn't use one, most people have no idea how to use it and bruise them self.

I would go get a facial and they can extract them the right way.
Biore pore perfect strips work very well. They make ones for the nose AND face.
yeah at wal mart...near the nail stuff

Which is easier, becoming a psychologist or a dermatologist?

which is easer interms of school work and how longWhich is easier, becoming a psychologist or a dermatologist?
Well if you mean in terms of the amount of time needed to be spent in school than a psychologist is easier because to become a dermatologist requires medical school after college as well as something similar to residency before you can begin to practice on your own. Whereas with a psychology degree you can use your degree with only a masters or as high as a Ph.D degree.Which is easier, becoming a psychologist or a dermatologist?

During their residency years after medical school, Dermatologists are trained in all types of melatonin (which gives the skin it's color). An African American dermatologist has the same training regarding dark skin, as does an Asian or Caucasian.

Have you ever been to a dermatologist for ance...........?

If so what did the dermatologist do for your acne?...Did it help?

Was your acne bad or minor (before)?Have you ever been to a dermatologist for acne...........?
It really depends on your type of acne, your age, gender, location of the acne, any allergies, etc, as to what your dermatologist will give you for your acne. Generally, a good dermatologist will vary the acne regimen according to all of those factors. And, don't be surprised if your dermatologist doesn't stay to examine you for a very long time. After all, he should be able to size up your condition quickly and formulate how he wants to treat you rapidly. It's the products that he writes for that are important, not the amount of time he needs to spend with you.Have you ever been to a dermatologist for acne...........?
Please, refer to a question I answered just now here on Yahoo Answers, I just don't have the time to type the same thing over again.

    Here's the link:

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?鈥?/a>

Find my answer and read it carefully. That person's question is about eczema, but my answer applies to your problem too. And I highly recommend you to read the book I mentioned there.

Remember, you CAN get rid of your skin problems, but neither with skin products that just cover up the symptoms, nor with antibiotics that ruin your immune system and just tell it to shut up. You need to enhance and maintain you immunity.
My friend's daughter had it pretty bad on her arms and shoulders. Derm Dr. gave her tube of cream and some antibiotics. with insurance the cost was $130. The she got this soap from this website which on 2nd application neutralized it all together. She is off the meds and the soap is all she uses. She was glad because she wanted to go swimming while at Bible camp and mon was happy because the soap cost less than $4. Here is the site where she buy the soap: Go to the soap section of the site.

Has anyone ever seen a Dermatologist?

Are they really helpful? This is going to be my first time visiting one and I'm hoping all my problems will come to an end. Has anyone ever had good experiences? Let me know. Also, how do I identify what kind of skin condition I have? Do I look at pictures or something?Has anyone ever seen a Dermatologist?
Ive been to 3 different dermatologist. if they are good, they could tell you what you have in just a couple of minutes, then they might show a picture and tell you about it and then give you medication.

good luck %26lt;3Has anyone ever seen a Dermatologist?
I used to struggle with acne until I saw a dermatologist. They're very helpful when it comes to identifying what you need to treat your skin. I don't know how you would identify what skin condition you have but most dermatologists should be able to help you with that.

    Good luck!
i never been to a dermatologist but i went to a doctor for a check up and he commented on my acne and perscribed me a good product called evoclin. it works. ;]
If it's skin related....their the right ones to see! I was trying to see my family doctor for years for what a dermatologist diagnosed properly and the problem is going away finally.

I have acne scars. They are not too bad, just read blotch marks on my face. I have went to a dermatologist..

but because they are not that bad, he sent me to an anesthetist. There, I had microdermabrasion and a chemical peel- nothing worked. Does anyone know of anything else that I can try to lighten my scars????I have acne scars. They are not too bad, just read blotch marks on my face. I have went to a dermatologist..
The newest form of treatment for acne scarring is called fractional laser therapy. This type of treatment works at a deeper level than laser resurfacing or dermabrasion, Because fractional laser therapy doesn't wound the top layer of tissue, healing time is shorter. Fractional laser therapy is quite costly, and it's not usually covered by insurance.

If as you say, your scars aren't too bad, this may help

    It's called Mederma

Good Luck!I have acne scars. They are not too bad, just read blotch marks on my face. I have went to a dermatologist..
This is a home remedy which is effective but will take some time to show results. Directly rub potato slices all over the face and wash after 30 minutes this when done regularly , helps to get rid of acne, blemishes and pimple scar. Check out http://useinfo-acne.blogspot.com/ for more useful info.
I asked my dermatoligist about laser surgery. He said that while it may work, it may also lighten the scars so much that they become paler than your actual skin color. What i recommend and what i'm using right now is NeoStrata HQ Plus gel. Use it and after a few weeks or less you will notice results.
    TRY SOME SKIN LIGHTENING PRODUCTS

Do you think i should see a dermatologist?

i am 15 and i have about 8 pimples on my chin (2 of them big lumps! gross) and i also have a oily nose and blackheads on the side of my nose also the skin around my nose is always red!! on the sides and around it!!

Is this enough to see a derm for??

or what should i do about my conditionsDo you think i should see a dermatologist?
Talk to your parents about it. see if they can afford it or if its covered under insuranceDo you think i should see a dermatologist?
No you do not need to see a dermatologist. If you want antibiotics to clear this up just see your regular doc and they can handle this.
    See a dermatologist.
i've got less problems and i see a derm. a check-up with them is fine too to see how your skins doing
    urgently
Wow... when I was younger I never went to see my dermatologist over pimples.
Pimples are common among teenagers because their skin is soft. But if your pimples are causing pain and posing aweful look than it is advisable to see your doctor. I am sure your mom will be happy to go with you because she wants her daughter to look pretty and stay away from pain. She will be convinced.
The questions I have for you are:

Do you watch your diet. Research and control your food intake.

Do you often touch your face? try not to. Your problem is more than likely chemical but it cant hurt.

Try to wash you face with warm water and mild light fragrance soap 3x a day. should help.

wouldn't hurt to see a derm. but these steps done reliably will help.
Yes you should. I have had it in the past, and now i see a few every now and then. When you see your dermotologist ask him about accutaine. Its hard to get that prescription. It does wonders, but it also has a downside. For example, depression, loss of appetite, chapped lips, many more. I know it sound like a lot of bad affects but in the end you will not see a pimple for maybe up to a year. Its your choice.....
I think if it is painful and/or causes you to feel very selfconcious maybe a dermatologist is the right step for you. I am in my mid-20's and I developed severe acne when I was about 12 years old. My family didn't have the money for a derm. visit. I suffered for years and I think it had a negative effect on my self-esteem. I now use Proactive Solution and it has done wonders for me. It costs about $50 and that lasts 2-3 months. I might give it a try before paying for a doctor visit and prescriptions which could cost much more and have alot more painful side effects.

I hope this helps you! Good luck!
Sounds like enough. Ask them to prescribe some Retin- A micro, it worked really well for me.
    yes
try salycylic acid or AMLactin. have your parents make an appointment with a dermatologist -anyone with skin should see the specialist.
Yes, you need to see a dermatologist for sure. They will be able to help you clear your face. Go before it gets worse. You'll be happy you did :)

Do you think going to a dermatologist is embarassing?

No I do not. I have had to go to a dermatologist for my two boys. That is what they are there for. When I went I never knew anyone neither did my boys. What is more embarassing going to a dermatologist or living with whatever problem you need help with. It does help and their skin cleared up as long as they followed the treatment plan. I would suggest you go and you will see it is not as bad as you think it is.Do you think going to a dermatologist is embarassing?
what? ha, what are you talking about?? man, you should not be embarrased going to any doctor. it's about your health; think about it! besides, they are experts. they see so many people every day.Do you think going to a dermatologist is embarassing?
No, but I never liked leaving...

They would perform ';acne surgery';, i.e. popping your pimples, after which I looked 10 times worse. I then got to go out to through the lobby where gorgeous girls were waiting to see the doctor about a single blemish. I had one of the worst cases of acne my dr had seen. It was definitely worth the years of torture. I don't have any acne scarring.
No, not at all. It's no different to me than going to any other doctor. I would be more embarassed to go to a podiatrist because my feet are so ugly, but I would even do that if I had to. Just remember, any kind of doctor has seen and heard it all. Nothing you could say or show them is going to surprise them, so it shouldn't embarrass you.

What kind of schooling does a dermatologist need?

    They are doctors.

    1. Attend a four-year college (preferably with a pre-med program), if not just take lots of chemistry, math, bio

    2. attend a medical school for another 4 years

    3. Spend up to 5 more years in a residency with a dermatologist

I wanted to be a dermatologist when I was in high school, but its not for me!What kind of schooling does a dermatologist need?
You'll need either an MD or DO. Quite frankly, if you decide to spend that much time and money for your post secondary schooling, find another specialty that pays you more. You will spend just as much time in school as an oncologist will. Why not make the big money instead?

Do you get weighed at the dermatologist?

I never have. I just went to one yesterday and they just put you in a room to wait for the Dr. My husband goes to them all the time and has never been weighed or any vital taken unless they are on meds then vitals sometimes have to be taken.Do you get weighed at the dermatologist?
I'v nvr been weighd at one. they did ask me my weight though. if they weigh u its only so they can make sure u get the proper dosage of meds

Is a dermatologist good to cure acne???

i have tried creams and more creams but nothin works for me but they say a dermatologist is too expensiveIs a dermatologist good to cure acne???
I thought alot of diff creams would help me.. all it did is make the situtation worse.. so i finally went and saw a dermotologist who prescribed some stuff and I am still in awe at the smoothness of my skin.. I had dark spots which are now hardly visible.. You shud go see one soonest.. it will be worth every penny. Is a dermatologist good to cure acne???

they may be expensive. but they should know the accurate cure for you acne. i would suggest going. if not, try noxema.
Over-the-counter medicines for acne will rarely give you the superb results you expect.

If you're that worried about your acne, go see your dermatologist. Ask them about Acutane. If they let you take it, you won't regret it. It's a pill, and you'll see definite results in a month. You can take it for up to 6 months, but by month 4, I was completely clear.
dermatoligists may be expensive but they prescribe you stuff that actually works

    Dermatologist and chemical peel...urgent?

how much is it to visit a dermatologist for the first time in Australia.

i am planning to go for the first time because i have acne scarring. will it be covered by medicare. how much is it for the chemical peel and will they do it on the second appointment.Dermatologist and chemical peel...urgent?
it depends on the dermatologist, usually a visit is a little over $100...

your derm will advise you on which treatment to consider for your

acne scarring, if you are advised on a chemical peel you will probably pay near thousands for the procedure, including after care products.

your dermatologist may not even perform the surgery, but refer

you to a facility that does, where you may have to go in for

consultation first, then once again for the treatment.

make sure you discuss all treatments available as chemical peels

induce long downtime and alot of pain.

the degree of your scarring depends on what you get.

if you have minor scars, seek a non-ablative laser like the

fraxel re:store or the sciton profractional

...just keep in mind that you must find a well-qualified

surgeon and that you keep realistic expectations

and thoroughly follow all instuctions you are given.

    best of luck.

  • Where do i find a dermatologist?

i would like to see a dermatologist about my acne but i was wondering if they were at regular doctors offices or what.. Where do i find a dermatologist?
no they have their own offices normally. You can find one in your area by going to yellowpages.com ; type in dermatologists for the search and your zip code =] qood luck !Where do i find a dermatologist?
What the skin needs is a product that clears pores and kills bacteria, thus preventing hair follicles from clogging and turning into acne. This is what you should be looking for if you want to get rid of those ugly acne.

Before trying any treatment, I suggest you read this informational source that listed the most effective acne treatments available:

    http://www.17acnetreatments.com

    Hope this helps :)
Do you have insurance? If you do, try finding out what their website is. There they might have a list of available dermatologist in your area that you can see. If they don't, just call your insurance company.

If you don't have a PPO you can't go directly to a dermatologist, you need a referral from your family doctor. Usually family doctors take it upon themselves to prescribe things for acne. Don't do it! Ask them to send you to a dermatologist instead. Trust me, I wish someone would have told me this when I was younger. And if you feel dismissed, and that they aren't listening to you go to someone else. It's important to find someone that is on the same page as you.

If you need something soon, look into Neutrogena products. I found they are the best over the counter.

And don't be mean to your skin, don't pick, and don't use things that dry it out because it will make it break out even more. Be gentle. Wash it gently.

And please, don't rely on acne websites. Everyone has a million different answers, because everyone's skin is unique. Be careful that you don't do anything that could make your skin worse.

    Good luck.

Dermatologist??? What kinds of Treatment do they give you???

Please if anyone know what kinds of treatment the dermatologist recommend..please list them.. I saw some ads once on really great dermatologist products but i really wants to know. I need something cheap and really helpful for my skin.

Thanks so much everyone..Dermatologist??? What kinds of Treatment do they give you???
A dermatologist is just a doctor with a speciality in skin. they can do all sorts of things, mostly asses and diagnose any sort of skin condition. Things like eczema, rosacea, skin cancer, dermatitis (dry/inflamed skin), acne, etc. etc. etc!

If you saw an ad with ';dermatologist-recommended... blah blah blah...'; it probably meant that the product was very mild, was ';hypoallergenic'; (which means it is unlikely to cause adverse reactions even in people with sensitive skin), and could even help bring relief to people with skin issues.

Beyond diagnosing and prescribing medications for skin conditions, some are considered ';cosmetic dermatologists';, which means they do things like peels, botox injections, etc... This might also include removing moles (a procedure which isn't always ';cosmetic';).

Typically, though, ';cheap'; is NOT a good word to look for when considering relief from skin problems!! Definitely see a dermatologist or even a naturopathic doctor if you're concerned about something.

Also - ALWAYS ask a dermatologist about short term and long term side effects of any treatment or medication before you start using it! Skin is a dangerous thing to treat and can easily turn against you.Dermatologist??? What kinds of Treatment do they give you???
It really depends on what you want to use the treatment for. If it's for acne, they give you medications and benzoyl peroxide.
Dermatologist usually prescribes drug medications. It can be harmful if taken excessively or over a prolonged period of time.

As you describe it, it sounds like vitiligo illness.

As far as i know there are not much treatments for that, beside cosmetic camouflage.

I suggest that you first go to hospital dermatologist to exam en pointed what it really is,before you spend more unnecessary money for it.

You can go to San Juan DE dios hospital in pasay or manila doctors in ermita.

Good luck.Help please. Good and affordable dermatologist?
My sisters in Canada went to the derma for the brown spots that look like warts (?), same as my sister-in-law and my Mom. This must be something that you get when you're getting older and you have lots of moles. They had to go through the process of cauterizing (burning...with laser, hot needle, etc. to destroy dead or unwanted tissue...) which made them avoid the sun or exposure for a couple of days. Then they went on with their vacation schedule and came back here happy.

I don't know if you have undergone any of this in your previous derma encounter.
you have tried going to dermatologists and nothing happened. how about doing some research on your own. read the posts here. maybe you may recognize a problem similar to your case. maybe the cure could just be more rest and better diet.

Probably because a dermatologist is a medical doctor and the other job only requires a certificate.

I have a tiny bump near my vagina, feels very much like a pimple. should i see dermatologist or gynecologst?

its a little lump betwn my vagina and anus (but nearer my vagina) it feels and looks like a pimple. where should i hav it checked? to a dermatologist or a gynecologist?I have a tiny bump near my vagina, feels very much like a pimple. should i see dermatologist or gynecologst?
Nine times out of ten, the pimple is herpes brought on by engaging in oral sex. You can check with your gynecologist to get a perscription to dry it up. However, there is no cure and if you change partners and receive more oral or normal sex, your new partner is 90% likely to get the herpes also.

Don't listen to the above answerer who is not helping anything. Now, if it makes you feel better, it may even be a hair follicle, ruling out herpes.I have a tiny bump near my vagina, feels very much like a pimple. should i see dermatologist or gynecologst?
    gynecologist
Try your family doctor first. If its minor im sure he or she can deal with it
say hello to herpes. see your gyno
Are you sure that it is not an ingrown hair? Also, if it just appeared I would wait a couple days. If it doesn't go away, go to a gyno!
yes go to your doctor right away ..it couild be a cyst but never can be to carefull.
Its an ingrown and u should have it checked.....it could also be ulcers............
You should see your gyn just to make sure its nothing important.
%26lt;My guess is Molluscum Contagiosum. Thats what I had I thought it was a wort thought it was a zit I had no clue but then I got a few more. I freaked out and went to the Dr. It real easy to fix just some numbing stuff and a laser bingo your dun
I would first go see your gynecologist, it could just be a cyst that needs lanced, but you can never be too sure! You definately need a medical opinion, don't let it go without getting it checked out, it could be a form of STD and in that case your OBGYN could tell you how to either rid this situation or direct you to the right type of MD!
GYN - sooner the better. More than likely it's nothing to worry about. Keep it extra clean, and do not have sex until it clears. If it is a herpes flare up, it's easier for them to detect herpes while you're having an outbreak.
according to your age it may be a skin tag or a small wart, doesn't sound serious, a dermatologist can spray it with dry ice and it will go away ,if he thinks it's something to have looked at by another DR he will refer you.
It could be herpes, or it could be just a pimple. Depending on how long it's been there, I think I would have it checked out. The gyno is probably the best bet.

If it goes away in a few days and doesn't come back, you're prolly OK. If it comes back in a month or so, it's prolly herpes.
IT'S PROBABLY NOT HERPES!!!! DON'T LET THESE PEOPLE SCARE YOU! I have one and the dr said that it was nothing more than a skin tag. It's like a mole that has little to no color difference from your regular skin in whatever area you have your lump in. I would definitly say to go to the GYNOCOLOGIST though. Just to be safe. Good luck hun!
Don't freak out, but it sounds like a genital wart. You are not alone. You should probabally visit the doc.
    Go to the gyno .........
    go see ur dostor !

I went to the dermatologist today and...?

She gave me some pills and a spot treatment in gel form. She told me to change my skincare regime to a less harsh one. Does anyone use the cetaphil line? Does that help get rid of acne?I went to the dermatologist today and...?
cetaphil may be gentle on some people, but i'm allergic to it.

so i us alba (from target), i love their stuff and my dermatologist prefers me to use it.I went to the dermatologist today and...?
witchhazel is amazing on my skin, after I wash my face before bed and after I wake up I just rub it all over my face with a cotton ball also after a good workout. miracle drug:)
    Cetaphil seems harsh to me...

I use unscented Dove and it really helps because my skin is combination and very sensitive. My doctor put me on birth control, and that helped a lot, too.

I like Avon stuff - the True PoreFection line, not the teen line - that one sucks. Clearskin also helps clear my face up without over-drying it.

You should try washing your face with warm water (hot water is bad) and a milder soap than whatever you're using. Remember that over-drying your skin can make it worse.

Another cheap thing that really works is using some honey as a face mask. Wash your face, dry it, smear on the honey, leave it for 15 minutes, then rinse with lukewarm water only. You get baby soft skin, and it clears away any marks you might have.
The only thing I can say is that if you use the harsher facial soaps, your skin actually produces more oil to conterbalance it. It's like your skin senses that it is dry so it produces more oil. I learned this from a dermatologist. I think you should try the treatment she suggested. She is, after all, a doctor.
Cetaphil is a very gentle skin cleanser, sold at many stores including target, walmart, and prolly any grocery store with a skincare section.

I use it. Unlike other facewashes, which often contain salicylic acid, this washes dirt and oil away but doesn't leave your skin stripped of all moisture.

    A large bottle costs $8-12.
no. i will tell you from exp. it does not work...but i do know what does.

lard based soap. its the best soap in the world. you won't find it at any store simply because it works wonders for your skin. all it is is lard, lye, water, essential oils(whatever you like.its natural). order some off of the internet. you will love this post forever.

  • Has going to the dermatologist helped anyone with acne? My pimples are getting out of hand now!?

I've watched Murad and Proactive infomercials. I was disappointed with both products. Nothing seems to help my pimples! I have mild acne, but I feel like my face is never clear anymore! I use to have good skin last year, but this year I started having one or two pimples on my face at a time. Now it's four or five pimples on my face at a time! I'm 20 years old and I don't have time to deal with breaking out! The infomercials for Murad and Proactive always have people on claiming that their dermatologist couldn't help their acne. This made me kind of skeptic. I'm not sure if I should waste my time going to the dermatologist. Does anyone know how dermatologists treat acne (i.e. face wash, astringent, creams, pills)? Does he/she examine my face and tell me why I'm breaking out? Has going to the dermatologist helped anyone with acne?Has going to the dermatologist helped anyone with acne? My pimples are getting out of hand now!?
I have been to see two different dermatologists in the past and they didn't help me in the least. One told me I just needed to wash my face with soap and water (and didn't even get out of his chair across the room to examine me) and the other gave me some prescriptions for some products that didn't help and were expensive.

I have tried every conceivable product (including Proactive, which practically tore my dry, sensitive off) to no avail. It wasn't until I found Acne.org that I finally found some help. Honestly, I've been clear for the 2-years since I started following some of the website's advice (I'm 30 now) and I didn't think that was possible.

    http://www.acne.org

Now, I tweaked some things about the acne regimen presented on the site (I have dry, sensitive skin), but you might find it works for you as is. It doesn't involve buying a lot of fancy products, or spending a lot of money. It just recommends using gentle methods to clean, treat (using 2.5% benzoyl peroxide) and moisturize your face. You can buy the products straight from the site - or choose to get something from a store near you. You might even already have what you need in your own medicine cabinet - but just need to learn a different way to treat your skin. I recommend that you give it a try before you go to a dermatologist. Honestly, it worked wonders for me.

If you want to know what I do: I use gentle products from La Roche Posay because they have no fragrance or irritating ingredients, mineral makeup instead of liquid foundation, avoid the ingredient Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (known to cause irritate skin and cause acne - Cetaphil even contains this!), and I also bought myself a dermal grade microdermabrasion cloth - and it did wonders for me too. This has all evolved over time, once I found what worked for my own skin. Good luck!!Has going to the dermatologist helped anyone with acne? My pimples are getting out of hand now!?
You know what? I am a 36 year old male and when I was a teen, I had acne and my mother tried every stupid and expensive way to treat acne. I noticed one day that my friend never had any acne. So I asked him why. He told me that he washes his face with soap several times a day whenever his skin felt greasy. If you rub your finger up your forehead at several times throughout the day, if you feel any oils, then go straight to the washroom and just wash you face with soap and water. It worked for me like a charm, within a week my acne was gone for good and for years after I would rub my finger up my forehead to check to greasy or oily skin. You'll never find a company out there who will tell you this, never, O.k., mind you I've told my wife this and she says it's too much to was your face 10 times a day (if that is what is necessary), but then I say well too bad. She still gets pimples at 35. Oh well...
try an Aveda acne line. I use the Outer Peace acne line by Aveda. They work miracles! and if you can, try to get a facial with extractions once a month at least. but try to go somewhere where they use all Aveda products. They're extractions are usually painless. I'm 20 and i had the same problem until i found Aveda. Good luck!
Go to see your doctor or dermatologist there are many things they can do. One thing is to try oral antibiotics.
Yes going to a dermatologist helps!!

It has helped my sister. They usually give face washes and recommend pills. They usually examine the face and answer all ur questions. Hope this helps =)

    I want to be dermatologist?

I am a Jr. in high school %26amp; I am looking at options. I am taking cosmetology and will have my licence by the time I graduate %26amp; Idk if that will even help me in the dermatology feild or not but I was wondering if anyone knew how long I would have to go to school what I would have to major in... ect?I want to be dermatologist?
    Cosmetology will not help you.

PRE-medicine or Podiatic Medicine leads to a professional degree.

Students often choose majors in chemistry or biology because they must take several classes in these fields. However, medical schools are also impressed by students with diverse interests. For example, if you have a passion for music, you may want to indulge it before concentrating on your medical studies. As long as you fulfill all of the prerequisite courses for med school, feel free to choose a non-science major.

    Helpful High School Courses

    AP庐 Biology

    AP Calculus AB

    AP Chemistry

    English

    Health science

    Physics

You should intern at a hospital or another medical facility amd volunteer with a health organization.

And spend lots of time -- on top of a full course load -- preparing for the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT), a required element of the med school application.

To get into med school, you鈥檒l need to complete a full year of organic chemistry. In lecture and lab, you鈥檒l study the building blocks of life: molecules of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen.

Overall at least, seven years that combines undergraduate and medical studies and culminates in an M.D. will help you in becoming a dermatogolist. Plus at least three years of residency (on-the-job training) to become certified.I want to be dermatologist?
Cosmetology won't help you at all. It is a complete waste of time for someone who wants to be a dermatologist.

What will help you is taking lots of math, science and AP classes so that you can go to the best university possible.

To become a Dermatologist, you will have to:

    1. Go to college, where you must take all the Pre-Med classes. It is always a good idea to do more than what is required -- so you should major in biology or chemistry.

    2. As a senior in college, take the MCAT test and apply to medical schools.

    3. Spend four years in medical school getting an MD or a DO.

    4. After graduating from medical school, spend a year as a medical intern.

    5. Then spend three years as a dermatological resident.

    6. Following your residency, take an exam to become board certified.

If all goes well, you should be a board certified dermatologist by the time you are 30.

  • Seeing a dermatologist?

I'm going to see a dermatologist soon for my acne. My first time to see the dermatologist, I'm 14. I've heard from other people that the dermatologist didn't help them at all. Just wanting to know others experience with their dermatologist? Did they help at all? And what did they suggest? Any information at all.Seeing a dermatologist?
I had to see numerous dermatologists for eczema when I was a teenager and NOT ONE was any damn use. I can't help you I'm afraid. I just hope you have better luck than I did.Seeing a dermatologist?
you should see a dermotologist because they do help, but you have to visit them frequently or your acne is not going to get better.
I saw a dermatologist when I was your age, for my own acne. My experience was very beneficial. I was prescribed a very good acne medication and it cleared my skin up very nicely. Just remember don't be afraid to tell the doctor your concerns. If you have questions write them down so you remember to ask them, and if you feel like you don't understand any instructions or definitions ask to have them explained better. Good Luck.
Another option is a licensed esthetician (AKA skin therapist) In some cases dermatologists actually have estheticians in their office and work side by side. If not, seek a spa and have a skin analysis done by an esthetician (and a facial for relaxation). They can tell you your skin type and what products to use.
when i went to see the dermatologist she made me cry she told me i would have my skin condition for life and i would be taking tablets for ever it has now been 6 months since i seen her and my skin condition has gone and i am no longer taking tablets any more ether you can can only go an see what they have to say everybody is different they might give you some good advice they might not but you should still keep seeing your gp about trying different products
At your age all the children do get acne at one time or the other due to the chemical changes in their body. The only way you can reduce them is by doing good workout and sweating it out and having a good balanced diet and stop eating all the crap such as pastime foods /drinks.Listen good and do it for your personnel looks. These acne also come due to unhygienic living conditions and having greasy skin all due to bad eating habits and lack of enough exercise.Go for a long run early in the morning and feel the fresh air on your face and lungs which will help you flush out the toxins which surface on your face due to not being able to be expelled by the excretion system and the best and the easiest way is the skin, so they show up .Its all up to you now .as long as you have not pinched the acne visiting an dermatologist is a must . you can reduce the acne by keeping your face nice clean and dry by washing and splashing your face with warm and later with cold water twice or thrice a day after washing well with soap. Please do drink a lot of water too.Wishing you all the best in getting rid of your acne .

Should i see my family doctor or a dermatologist?

    Any dermatologist out there?

I have had this on going acne problem. But it is only on the lower right side of my face, there is not so much as a trace of acne on the left side. It goes from about an inch from my mouth all the way back to almost my ear. I don't ever touch it unless i'm putting solution on it. It has been there for about 7 months and it just will not go away! My skin is slightly oily but i wash it morning and night. My skin everywhere else is super clear and acne free. I have tried everything to get rid of it. I even stopped useing make up and hair products for 2 weeks. I have tried many acne medications from drug stores. Please can someone tell me what i should do. Thanks.Any dermatologist out there?
Yes well without seeing you I would say that you sleep on that side of your face and are reacting to a) the bedding or b) the lack of air circulation. My advice is to try not to sleep on that side a couple of nights and watch for improvement. In the meantime you should also apply some antibacterial cream to the affected area. You can pick some up on line at www.notaquitter.com. Hope this helpsAny dermatologist out there?
i know this doesnt help much seeing as you have stopped using products, but it really sounds like an alergic reaction. does the solution help at all? if not why dont you try not using it for a week and seeing what kind of difference there is?
Is it possible that you chew gum on that side or sleep on that side? Allergies can pop up in lots of ways. I am allergic to aspartame an when I chew gum I get a reaction on the side I chew on OR maybe an allergy to the soap you use on your sheets

Do dermatologist specialize in treating cold sores also?

if no, what kind of doctor does?Do dermatologist specialize in treating cold sores also?
They do treat cold sores along with other doctors. Remember a cold sore is a virus that you have in your body. Antibiotics don't help get rid of this. Your doctor can prescribe an antiviral but they also have creams over the counter that help the cold sore to dry out and heal. I know you are tempted to pick at the cold sore when it is healing but don't because then you are back to step one. Key is right when you feel the tingling that you will get one (even though you can't see it) put the cream on. I know the feeling slight tingle and the itch and then one seems to pop up. Good luck with it. Remember these things can be passed on so take care and start the healing process.Do dermatologist specialize in treating cold sores also?
My dermatologist has prescribed several different things for my cold sores over the years. So has my general practitioner.
I would say to consult with your family physician or a dentist. Some information on cold sores is below.

Which career have higher salary nurse or dermatologist ?

Dermatologist. You'd be a specialist MD.

Nurses (RNs) typically only have a 4 year degree. The US still allows 2 year diploma RNs. Your salary would be good as a nurse, but a typical RN would never make as much as a derm. Not even close. Most nurses don't make 6 figures, but you definitely would as a Dermatologist. But it is also true that your length of education is more than double or even triple what an RN (4 year degree) would have (4 years undergrad plus 4 years intensive med school plus 2 years general residency plus specialization, which can be 2-3 more years).

Regardless, ideally you don't chose your career based on length of schooling or salary. Especially in healthcare. You have to choose a field because it is your passion and melds with your interests, strengths, and skills. Nursing and medicine are very different, with different models of care.

Good luck!Which career have higher salary nurse or dermatologist ?
The dermatologist, but that means medical school which is a whole lot more expensive and longer than nursing school.Which career have higher salary nurse or dermatologist ?

How do i find i good dermatologist?

my first Q is how do i look for a good dermatologist that won't cost me a million bucks.

and my second is how can i get my insurance to pay for my visits and medication-i wan't to go for an acne problem-so i don't have to worry about the cost. How do i find i good dermatologist?
Your insurance company might already cover the dermatologist. If I was you I'd call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask them what is covered and what isn't. Also ask them if there is a website that you can refer back to if you needed to look something up.

I know my insurance covers the dermatologist. The only thing they don't cover is things they consider to be cosmetic. Acne isn't considered cosmetic so it should be all covered for you. If you don't have perscription coverage tell the doctor and they will usually give you samples to get you by for a while first to make sure you like the medication before you spend alot of money on something.

    Good luck !!

Can I call to make a dermatologist appointment myself... I'm 14?

My mom is really busy right now... rushing to get things ready because we're leaving to visit Miami in a few days. Anyway, I really want to make myself an appointment with this new dermatologist. I haven't been to see her yet, we haven't had any contact. So I was wondering, since I'm only 14, can I make my own appointment, or will they say my parent needs to unless I'm 18 + ?Can I call to make a dermatologist appointment myself... I'm 14?
you can try, all they can do is say get your parent to call, nothing ventured, nothing gained. But, you mom or dad will have to go with you to fill out the necessary paper work for payment. Can I call to make a dermatologist appointment myself... I'm 14?
Sure, you can call to make the appointment; but, one of your parents will have to accompany you, at least for the initial visit, to fill out insurance forms, and any other paper work, as well as getting the ';scoop'; on what your problem is, as well as any treatment protocol that is being offered to you. You appear to me, though, to be a very self-sufficient young lady, so I';m sure that making the appointment will be easy for you to do. Make sure that you have the necessary insurance information in front of you when you call, as some doctors would like that at the time that you call.
i don't see why not they just have to confirm it with your parents

How Can I See A Dermatologist???

I'm From London I was wondering Where Do I Go??.........so I could see a dermatoligist??.........

I Was Told G.P would refer you........if this is true I was wondering do u ask him 2 refer you?.....coz once I went to the G.P to see if I could get a cream or something for some scars on my face and he said there isn't such thing or he can't help me :S.....

Could someone help me out here please, Thanks in advanceHow Can I See A Dermatologist???
Im not sure how things work in London but in the U.S. if you have insurance you can call your member services # on the back of your card and they can direct you to a dermatologist that accepts your insurance. Just call and make an appointment. If they say you need a referral, then just call your PCP (Primary Care Physician) office and request a referral.

Did you try cocoa butter to see if it lighten your facial scars?

Aloe Vera is excellent for treatment of fresh wounds and scars. If you can find the plant, squeeze the leaf and apply the juice to the scar. Else, apply Aloe Vera Gel. Also, apply lemon juice to the scar. Lemon juice is a natural bleach and should help.

Or apply cucumber juice to your face daily, and wash off after fifteen minutes. How Can I See A Dermatologist???
Don't listen to Alfie, urologists have nothing to do with dermatologists. I am not in london, but I wanted to call Alfie out on his ridiculous answer..

    Did you try googling?
Call your local Hospital and ask who is the Chairman of the

Department of Urology, get his/her name and call his office and make an appointment.
Call the doctors office, and tell the person you spoke with that you want to get a referral to a dermatologist. Tell them you already saw the doctor, and he couldn't prescribe anything.

    Dermatologist or Psychiatrist?

i would like to be either a dermatologist or psychiatrist. what are advantages and disadvantages of each. which one would you choose to be?Dermatologist or Psychiatrist?
If you prefer to deal with physical problems (skin problems) then you should be a dermatologist. If you prefer to deal with mental problems then you should be a psychiatrist.

Being a psychiatrist would undoubtedly be far more stressful because it is probably much harder to deal with mental problems than physical problems.

Presumably, dermatology would be easier to learn as well. Brain or mental problems are undoubtedly far more complexDermatologist or Psychiatrist?
Personally there is no camparison in the type of Dr. these are. Its like asking if you would rather be a neuroseurgeon or a internal medicine dr. Each field has its own frustrations and rewards. Both get to help people but the psychiatrist gets to see a different type of result. They can see an improvement in a pt because of what they are doing. This improvment is a challenge to obtain, and something to be proud of. This internal change can have life altering consequences for the patient.

The dermatologist gets to cut off skin cancers, say things look suspious and cut it off. They do facial peels, mini face lifts and things that cosemetically change people. The person doesn't change, the outside does. On occasion they do come across a melanoma and alot of times this has to be referred to the general surgeon and the oncologist, he doesn't get to see the results of his work.

    I'd rather be a psychiatrist.
Dermatologists can usually set their hours unless you specialize in trauma. More specific set of diseases and ways to diagnose them. You can also support different product lines of skin care to supplement income.

Psychiatrists have specific office hours but deal with diagnoses that are harder to arrive at and also have emergency implications.

    Just my opinions!
Psychiatrist-crazy people are much more interesting than rashes. I think it would be more rewarding to help people that were suffering from depression or other types of more serious mental issues.

Have you gone to a dermatologist?

What do they do there? Im thinking of being one when I grow up but im not sure what they do...except they are SKIN doctors but what else do they offer? tnxHave you gone to a dermatologist?
Dermatologists are specialist physicians who diagnose and treat diseases of the skin, hair and nails. All dermatologists are medically qualified, and undertake the same undergraduate training as other doctors. So good luck! Lol.Have you gone to a dermatologist?
Give a dermatologist's office a call and ask if you can job shadow a Dermatologist Dr. for a day. I'm sure they would be more than willing to accomodate you or at least point you in the right direction as to finding out more information.
I have fair skin and grew up on the Gulf Coast of Florida. I go about every 6 mos primarily to check for early signs of skin cancer. Anything suspicious, they usually freeze. Other stuff they hack off with a blunt axe. They treat all sorts of skin disorders, rashes, fungus etc.

What makes some dermatologists okay with prescribing birth control while others are reluctant to?

I've read about how some derms prescribe bc for the treatment of acne....while others will send you to a gyno or general doctor. Why is this? What makes some dermatologists okay with prescribing birth control while others are reluctant to?
gyno's get paid alot more to put teenage girls on birthcontrol. all the problems that they say the birthcontol are fixing can be fixed without the birthcontrol.

Can i ask my dermatologist for accutane?

hi ive got an appointment to see my derm would it be fine if i asked my derm for accutane ive tryed everythingCan i ask my dermatologist for accutane?
if your acne is severe (nodules, cysts, etc.) it wouldn't hurt to ask your dermatologist about it. however, if you just have mild acne you're not going to get it. accutane is a serious last resort drug that should only be used by people with severe and in some cases very persistent moderate acne. Can i ask my dermatologist for accutane?
Yes, that is exactly what you should do. Talk with your dermatologist about your acne treatment options. Ask about accutane, or any other options available. He/she should be able to guide you to what will work best. Don't be disappointed he you don't get a prescription acne treatment. Many acne medications are very powerful and can have some severe side effects. If your doctor doesn't give you a prescription it means that your case of acne isn't severe enough to outweigh the risks of using prescription treatments.

Whats a dermatologist and what do they do ? also does proactive really work ??

proactive depends really, for me, i have really sensitive skin and it dried mine out. the only way to find out if it works is to try it yourself. but be careful, they charged my friend's aunt $50 for Proactive she didn't order.Whats a dermatologist and what do they do ? also does proactive really work ??
A dermatologist is a doctor who treats skin conditions.

    And NO, PROACTIV DOESN'T WORK!

It's a rip-off! My daughter tried it and it didn't do anything to help clear up her skin; nothing! That's when I found out that by accepting their ';no-risk trial offer,'; I had actually signed up for a ';club'; where they would send me more for full price every couple of months. (It's in the small print.)

When I returned the used portion (part of the no-risk thing), they never refunded my money. Not only does it NOT work, but they don't honor the return policy either.

How can I ask my doctor out (dermatologist) on a date?

Roll yourself in some Poison Ivy and tell her to come over and check the house because you have a really bad rash and it only happens when you are in certain places and she might be able to pick what or where is giving you an allergic reaction in your house.

    OR

Just ask her to make a house call and you could be ready in the bedroom waiting for her.

When she gets to your house, JUMP HER!

Now how easy is that??How can I ask my doctor out (dermatologist) on a date?
Write him/her a letter in pimple cream. How can I ask my doctor out (dermatologist) on a date?
    talk about their skin
Don't bother, it would be a breach of the ethical standards.
Have beautiful skin that she'd admire

    or

be a pimple head and ask her to treat you.

    In short just ask her.
Don't do it. You know how many patients that meet her want to date her? They are up in peoples faces all day on a regular basis. Find someone that is not your medical practitioner.

It may save you some embarrassment.
If you have gross skin problems, I wouldn't try.
um...make an appointment with her and then do it then, but she'll probably reject you
    Just say ';would you like to go out sometime'; the worst you'll get is, ';Hell no! I wouldn't date you if you the last man on earth and I only had twenty minutes to live!'; %26lt;slap%26gt;
Well, tell him you want to look for another dermatologist for referal but let him know you have reasons to.. After you seen the other dermatologist, then go and ask him for a date. That way, you are NOT REALLY breach his/her professional ethic since you already gone to see the other doctor on your own.

Try to initate a date somewhere outside the office 1st time... BTW, it's nice that you like him/her.. but does he/she likes you the same way or is he/she married?
you need to stop seeing your doctor as a patient. wait a year then if your still interested give him/her a call. your dr. can't date you while you are a patient.
It's usually not done! Due to the patient/client confidential relationship, the doctor will probably say no due to the ethics and standards of the American Medical Association. He may get sanctioned, written up , or lose his job by engaging in a personal relatonship with a patient. Don't blame him, it's the rules.
Tell him he can see lots more skin if he takes you out

My dermatologist gave me evoclin. My face is peeling, is this normal??

I went to the dermatologist about 3 days ago and he gave me 3 prescriptions. Two are topical and one is a pill. I was told to use evoclin (a topical foam) in the morning, and yesterday I noticed some slight peeling, but I wasn't bothered by it, but today it is horrible! The evoclin burned my face, and when I was trying to use an exfoliating face wash to help, it made that burn too. My friend's mom said that was normal, the peeling, but I can't find anything about it on evoclin's website. Should I stop using it, or just keep on trucking? It's really gross. My dermatologist gave me evoclin. My face is peeling, is this normal??
i went here and it said that side affects include dryness, burning, itchiness. My dermatologist gave me evoclin. My face is peeling, is this normal??
My doctor gave me the same thing about a week ago. It's side effects do include peeling, itchiness, burning, and/or stinging. This happened to me for the first couple of days but now most of the stinging has subsided and my skin is pretty much healed and clearing up.

Try Dr. Melissa Watcher in Orange, CA. She's often interviewed on the news as an expert dermatologist.

Let your doctor know that you are anxious and that you would like to hear what will happen during the procedure. He/She will understand and would be happy to let you know! It is normal to be afraid and/or anxious when going to do something that you don't know about. Relax. You will be fine!

    Good Luck :o)

I have bad acne and i have tried everything from a lot of different OTC and even been to 2 dermatologist..?

but nothing seems to work. what can i do?I have bad acne and i have tried everything from a lot of different OTC and even been to 2 dermatologist..?
Well if you're a girl you should try getting on some bc pills. Your dermatologist can prescribe them for you.

Otherwise an option would be to take antibiotics daily. Again, your dermatologist can prescribe them.

There are a lot of different prescription acne medications. It can take a lot of trial and error to find one that works for you. I was the same way. Differen and Benzaclyn did nothing for me, even though they helped my best friend, but when I tried retin-a micro I suddenly saw a difference. Now my skin is sooo much better.

My best advice would be to go back to the dermatologist and try something new. It takes about 3 months for these things to even start working, so be patient. If after 3 months, it doesn't improve GO BACK and try something else. Over the counter products aren't gonna give you the same results prescriptions can.I have bad acne and i have tried everything from a lot of different OTC and even been to 2 dermatologist..?
Your best bet is to find a dermatologist that truly seems interested in helping and follow their suggestions, most require several appts sometimes every 2 weeks until it gets controlled. Also know that it will require $$$$. Chemical peels and dry ice treatments, for example.
you wont hear anything on hear a dermitoligist hasnt told you if nothing works live with it youll grow out of it

    Dermatologist in hawaii anyone?

anyone know a good dermatologist in hawaii?around maybe pearlcity, aiea, mililani, wahiawa around those areas?in the west side but not too far like kapolei or ewa.id like to know thanks.Dermatologist in hawaii anyone?
Interestingly, my Honolulu magazine that arrived yesterday has it's best doctors annual list. They list the following in the areas you mentioned:

    Carver Wilcox, Wahiawa, 621-1000

Paul Takiguchi, Pali Momi, 487-0083 (referrals only)

I don't know either of these docs, but am forwarding the recommendation of the magazine.

Dr. Nip-Sakamoto is also listed, but she is in town, as the other poster mentioned, %26amp; has a wait list of 6 - 7 months. I do know this doctor %26amp; she is very good.

I am a nurse %26amp; know from trying to refer patients that many dermatology practices here are very busy %26amp; you may have to wait 6 to 8 weeks for an app't unless you are lucky enough to call right after a cancellation. If you have trouble getting an app't %26amp; are willing to come into town, try Norman Goldstein at Honolulu Medical Group, 537-2211. He recently moved practices %26amp; seems to be able to see people on a timely basis. I have seen him before %26amp; he is very good.Dermatologist in hawaii anyone?
I'd check the website for your health insurance company and see if they have a network here. I know that HMSA (Hawaii Medical Services Association) is a member of Blue Cross/Blue Shield, which is a major medical insurance company. HMSA's website is below.

You can also check hospitals' websites. I'll put the website for Pali Momi below. It's a really nice hospital next door to Pearlridge Mall.

From personal experience, I like Jennifer Fong. She has an office in the Pearlridge Mall complex in Aiea.
I think PMAG has the best Doctor's (Physician Association).

It depends on your insurance. Email me if you need details on where you are eligible.

Looks like Wayne Fujita is in the area you are looking for. Also Dr. Carver, Hagino and Takiguchi.
This doctor is in town, but she is very good.
