apparently it takes up to a year.. and i need meds NOW. but i hear meds make your skin super dry and make your skin peel.. is it even worth it or should i wait for it to o away? im 17 and i dont feel its getting better. my skin was dry one day and oily the next..helpHow are you supposed to find a dermatologist??
through your family Dr

you sound like you are using different things on your skin as you say one day its dry,the next its oily=pick one good one preferably with an antibacteria substance in it and stick with that until you see DrHow are you supposed to find a dermatologist??
Talk to your doctor. For myself, a perscription is what it took to get some stuff (minocycline) that worked for me. (when nothing in the past ever did)

If you have a mole removed by a plastic surgeon, (instead of a dermatologist) will there still be a scar?

i just got one removed and i asked about it and looked it up and there will be a scare no matter what but please go to a plastic surgeon they are more experienced in doing that. for the scare after you can get- mederma for scars-

which will help make the scare softer and smootherIf you have a mole removed by a plastic surgeon, (instead of a dermatologist) will there still be a scar?
I have a mole removed and I did not scare, but it depends on how well you heal from scares, so people can heal w/o a clue of being cut other keloid( has a raised scare), so it depends; it did not cost a lot and it was done in an hour.If you have a mole removed by a plastic surgeon, (instead of a dermatologist) will there still be a scar?
Only in your wallet!
I took two off of my neck with a toenail clipper, and you can't see a scar at all.

  • Have you ever been to a dermatologist, not cuz of any disorder, but just to get perfect skin?

Yes and its quite expensive. I hardly had any acne compared to other people there. They wanted $100 for a tiny bottle of cleanser!

As a Dermatologist is the job competitive in Georgia ???

Now, I'm thinking about becoming a Dermatologist (Dermasurgeon to be exact), I know you serve 11 years of working and have to be very serious and intellegent, I live in Georgia, which isn't a major dermatology unit, I want to become sucessful in anything I do, so in Georgia is the job competitive , would it be a smart profession to go and could I make a profit in the business ???As a Dermatologist is the job competitive in Georgia ???
NOT MUCH COMPETITION HERE IN BLAIRSVIILE GEORGIA. THE DERMATOLOGIST DOESN'T EVEN JOIN MOST PPO'S I ALSO TAKES A MONTH OR MORE JUST TO GET AN APPOINTMENT. COME HERE WE NEED YOU. I WORK FORA PODIATRIST DON'T GO INTO THAT FIELD THEY DON'T MAKE AS MUCH MONEY

I had my two keloids injected with steroid or cortizone yesterday by my dermatologist...?

I woke up this morning and the keloid on both of my ears still look exactly the same...I had already scheduled an appointment to see my doctor in 4 wks. About how long does it take for the keloids to shrink in size...I know that I just had them injected, but, well, I expected them to be a little smaller now, since the injection..I had my two keloids injected with steroid or cortizone yesterday by my dermatologist...?
Call them and ask. They should have mentioned this to you.

Since you are an existing patient they should be there for your questions etc.

It may take several injections before you notice it totally improving though. :(

Do i just go to a dermatologist?

and tell them i want a mole removed or can they refuse to remove it. ive had one on my neck my whole life and its kept me from ever wearing my hair up in a pony tail around people and im not ugly but i feel like it everytime i notice people that see it from days i decide to wear my hair up and not care. its pretty dark and big and my mom says that usually they freeze them off but mine looks deep rooted. im going to her dermatologist in sept and its pretty far away i dont want to have to go back again after he looks at it to get it removed. so i guess i have two questions..can i get it removed the same day i see him ANDdoes he have to make the decision whether i can or not?Do i just go to a dermatologist?
You may want to call them in advance and ask them if they will do it at your first appointment. I had a mole on my chest and made an appointment. They looked at it and told it me was not suspicious looking, but I still wanted them to biopsy it. In my case they let me make the decision. So they had me come back a couple of weeks later and they removed it, with a razor. They numbed the area first then sliced it off. No pain at the time but it did hurt a little after the medication wore off. My insurance covered it because it was medical, so you may want to ask if your removal would be considered cosmetic, insurance won't cover that.Do i just go to a dermatologist?
Removing your mole is now possible and safe with licenced specialist. But you know your mole doesn't really have to do with your beauty. Beauty is accepting the natural thing,But if that's the only way of improving your self-confidence,then go for it!
They can refuse to do it if they feel that your health would otherwise be endangered, but moles rarely give doctors this kind of worry. In fact, sometimes it's beneficial to remove them because they can become tumorous.

Just tell the dermatologist that you want it removed and he or she will tell you the specifics of how they do it. You might get referred to a cosmetic surgeon, but not likely.

Unless the doctor feels that the mole might pose a health risk, your insurance will probably not cover this procedure, so you'llhave to pay for it out of pocket. But it seems like you're okay with that.

Oh and be sure to get a second opinion.
They usually examine it and then you go back for removal. How about calling them and asking if it can be a one time thing?

Otherwise consider it a beauty mark and be proud of it. Unless it gets chafed and irritated by jewelry or clothing- keep it .
yes. it can be remove on that same day i have mine below my eyes and have remove 3 years ago and i look better without my mole.Do what you want to do especially if you feel you will become abetter and much beautiful with out that mole

Have you been to a Dermatologist?

Well my mom said she's gonna take me to the dermatologist sometime b/c I have some acne on my face and huge pores.

I was just wondering what they do at the dermatologist offices and like some of the things they can do to help clear my skin.Have you been to a Dermatologist?
i have been to the dermatologist and they can do like miracles haha

theres so many products and things you can try

and you dont have to go it alone, they have the expertise you need.

    its great.

id be very happy if i were you :) you get professional help.

they just ask you questions like whats the prob and thats pretty much it. it was for me. they recommend stuff for you :)Have you been to a Dermatologist?
I've been going to the dermatologist for almost 5 years now, it's not scary or anything.

First the doctor will take a look at your face and ask you what you're concerned about. They might ask you what your face routine is, what type of products you use, etc. If your acne is very stubborn and won't go away, you can get a prescription for a strong topical medication and/or antibiotic pills. It really depends on what kind of acne you have, the dermatologist will know what to do.

I'm not sure what they can do about pore size, but be sure to bring it up at the appointment. Good luck. :]
i love my dermatologist he worked miricles for me. they can perscibe u perscription strength stuff so u dont have to use the over the counter crap

This question is for a dermatologist or someone that may work for one........?

I am a recovering addict off of ice (crystal meth.). I have been clean over 2 years now, I did get really bad ';meth mites';, and ever since I have been clean my normal facial acne has never been the same, I know alot of it has to do with the stuff that drug is made of, but what I am asking is there anything that I can clean my face with or topically use to help clear it up more, and if not , how long will this last? This question is for a dermatologist or someone that may work for one........?
You might want to go over to www.webmd.com. You can log onto the message boards and talk to people who have gone what you are going through, and also make a post under skin conditions and get an answer from a dermatologists. I hope this helps.

Well I need more soon, but I am still getting acne and I still have scars.

It is really bringing my confidence level down. I want to wear my hair up and not have to worry about the acne on my forehead.

My dad said he could make an appointment with our doctor, but my dad sees him all the time, and I'm afraid he will tell him that my skin is REALLY bad. I'm not sure what to do, i just want my skin clear like it used to be!Dermatologist or store brand?
    Hello there,

There are three really important things you can do immediately to help stop breakouts with out dishing out allot of money.

    1. Exercise, this helps you sweat and exfoliate your skin. Remember when you exercise the more you sweat the more your are doing for your skin. It makes no sense to exercise and not sweat hard.

2.Watch what your eating,( i.e. sweets, sodas) something in your food could possibly be the cause of your breakouts. Also stress has been linked to cause breakouts too.

    3. Take a visit to your dermatologist about prescribing you some medication.

    4. Find a really good Anti-bacterial soap. I use Neem soap. It's very good on the skin, fights the bacteria thats deep in your pores, and leaves it feeling really clean and glowing. This is a good site to find it ...Ethnic Foods Company

After you've done these really effective things you can go purchase Aloe Vera Leaf. Its natural, fresh and cost no more than $2 bucks. You can find the m at your local farmers market or Publix. If you cut it open and apply it to your skin it has anti-inflammatory properties that will help heal your skin very quickly, and minimize the appearance of dark spots. Trust me out of all of the medication I've tried, this is the only thing that I swear by. Its cheap and it actually works. Try this first before you go buying any spot medication, they are usually just gimmicks and people waste allot of money on them every year.Dermatologist or store brand?
You need to use more specific nouns. Pronouns make things confusing here. ';I'm afraid he will tell him that my skin is REALLY bad.'; He and him who? You're afraid your dad will tell your doctor your skin is bad or you're afraid your doctor will tell your dad your skin is bad? Either way, if whatever over the counter things you're trying aren't working and it's really affecting your confidence that badly, then wouldn't you want to see a doctor to seek further, hopefully more successful treatment?

I was informed by my dermatologist that there is a new sunscreen called paint. Where can I purchase this?

Just google it and go from there. If you don't want to google it, then check on drugstore.com, and amazon.com - they both have tons of health and beauty products.I was informed by my dermatologist that there is a new sunscreen called paint. Where can I purchase this?

    Hello;

Yes but you have to get a referral from your primary care doctor

first for them to pay for it.

Best of luck with your baby.

    Should I be a Dermatologist?

I am really interested in the field, but I heard you need a minimum of 13 years of study. Is their any way you can shorten the amount of study? I am an average student with a 3.5 gpa and 2 honors courses in English and Math. I am a senior taking Eng comp 1 and 2 H and Calculus H and Physics. What studies would I have to do during my freshman year in College? Do you think I am capable of becoming a dermatologist?Should I be a Dermatologist?
While you can major in anything, it is best to take Biology and/or Chemistry in college. There is also a general core of knowledge, and you would take those as well (English, history, social sciences, mathematics, etc.). Then, you take four years of medical school. There are 3/3 programs if you are exceptional in sciences (three years UG and three years of medical school), but there are only a few slots there. After medical school, you would do one year of intern and then 2-3 years of residency (working in a dermatology clinic at a teaching hospital, usually) before you go out on your own. Yes, it's lot of study.

The other option is to be a physician's assistant:

Physician assistants (PAs) practice medicine under the supervision of physicians and surgeons. They should not be confused with Medical assistants, who perform routine clinical and clerical tasks. PAs are formally trained to provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services, as delegated by a physician. Working as members of the health care team, they take medical histories, examine and treat patients, order and interpret laboratory tests and x rays, and make diagnoses. They also treat minor injuries, by suturing, splinting, and casting. PAs record progress notes, instruct and counsel patients, and order or carry out therapy. In 48 States and the District of Columbia, physician assistants may prescribe some medications.

Finally, there are nurse practitioners, which are RNs with specialized experience who operate a bit like PAs. That would be four years of nursing school plus another year of specialized study.

Ask your pcp for a referral that's in your insurance plan.

    Should i see the dermatologist?

im worried i have a lip wart. i didn't have uhh....you know what.....but i used to have warts on my fingers a couple months ago. is there a way they could have traveled to my lips? i just have a small raised white bump on my upper lip, and im just nervous it'll get worse or become horrible looking. am i overeacting or should i go to the doctor?Should i see the dermatologist?
I've had warts there before too. It's probably just a normal wart but if it looks funny, its just because it isnt on skin. Theres nothing you can use that's over the counter so deffinately go see a doctor. However, the doctor told me it's very rare to get these. There's a better chance that its a cold or canker sore. You could have even bit your lip and now it's swollen. In that case, no need to see a doc. but if your concerned, make an appointment. But breathe a sigh of relief for me 'kay? Its gonna be fine!Should i see the dermatologist?
it sounds like a cold sore, get a warm wash cloth and hold it over the bump, get the water as hot as you can stand, that should take care of it though.
go see a dotcor just to check it out.

and wart are contagious if you had them on your hands.. and then touched your face.. thats probley how you got it.

but chill and go check it out just to make sure.,
YES see a doctor. It could be like some kind of disease.

    GOOD LUCK!
go to a doctor and if its a wart then get it froze off.

    as soon as possible
    Yeah, you should.

Check with your dermatologist... But, from what I know, you should use the prescription ointment Last, after your other products. Also, there is a chance the medicine will change your skin a bit, so make sure to stay in contact with your consultant in case you need to change up your skincare regiman. If you don't have, feel free to email me.

I know it depends on location but about how much is it to go to the dermatologist, especially for a 1st timer? just to make an appointment to ask for advice/help and ask questions, sort of like a check up...whats the average cost/range. Thanks!Going to the dermatologist?
When I went to a dermotologist the first consultation was free.Going to the dermatologist?
dont listen to the idiot who said use a wrench. look in your phone book. mine costed 20 bucks but i highly doubt you'll get it that cheap.
With no health insurance it could run you upwards of $200. With health insurance then you just need to check your plan, you would probably have a copay of $20 or more.
I dont know.....it helps if you have medical insurance because then only like 15 bucks for the co-pay.
it really just depends on your insurance... mine (w/ insurance) is $30 a visit. i'd suggest that you find one and call and ask : )
Call the dermatologist you plan on going to (like making an appointment) and just ask.

But it also depends on if you buy and what you buy, that the dermatologist has recommended. (usually they give you samples to try first)

if you've tried over the counter stuff and they haven't worked, you might want to make that appointment for the dermatologist. they can prescribe you something and it usually works.I have Acne. I want to go to the Dermatologist. Is that the right thing to do?
What the skin needs is a product that clears pores and kills bacteria, thus preventing hair follicles from clogging and turning into pimples. This is what you should be looking for if you want to get rid of those ugly pimples.

Before going to a dermatologist, I suggest you read this informational source that listed the most effective acne treatments available:

    http://www.squidoo.com/thebestacnetreatm鈥?/a>

P.S. I also know someone who used to suffer from severe acne and finally got rid of it completely. She's sharing her story at her site:

    http://20six.co.uk/my-acne-solution

Maybe you could learn from her inspirational story

    .
Most dermatologists are very kind, and they will answer all of your questions for you. If you have insurance, that will usually cover it. I'm not sure how much it costs if you don't have insurance. If you go, the doctor will probably prescribe a cream or pill that should get rid of your acne.
Going to the dermatologist might cost a bit, so before you go you should check out the types of face washes they have at the store. Find out what skin type you are (dry, oily, etc.) and go from there on the products. Just dont try proactive..

If you have realllllyyy bad acne and it just NOT going away, then going to the derm. wouldnt be a bad idea. They will prescribe you with some medication or special cream to help clear it up. Obviously your acne wont be gone forever, because acne can be caused my many factors, such as stress, sugary foods, and not washing your face after sweating or exercising. There will probably be a significant difference however.

    Hope I helped.
A dermatologist visit at least once in awhile is never a bad thing. Chances are, she will tell you your skin type and maybe recommend a good plan to take care of your face, or even prescribe a good acne product. It isn't scary, and the dermatologist will not judge you, remember, she see's cases like this all the time, and has probably seen way worse than your acne. Your acne may not be gone forever, but you might at least be able to get it under controll and reduce it. As for cost, I don't really know.

What are the steps to see/find a dermatologist?

thanksWhat are the steps to see/find a dermatologist?
You can get a referral from your General Practice doctor, which most health insurance companies prefer, or you can try looking in your phone book or online.

Call the office and schedule an appointment. In addition to adressing your immediate concerns, the dermatologist should take a thorough history, take plenty of time with you, answer all questions you may have, and you should feel comfortable with him/her.

In other words, it's a lot like finding any other kind of doctor. :) Good luck to you. What are the steps to see/find a dermatologist?
Ask your general doctor, friends and family members..most insurances require you to see ur regular DR about the problem and then reffer you.
Your family doctor will need to refer you to one.

Can the dermatologist give you a cream to get ride of acne scars and dents. !!12 points!!?

i already went to the dermatologist for acne now its gona i just wondering if they can do anything about scars and dents will they give a creamCan the dermatologist give you a cream to get ride of acne scars and dents. !!12 points!!?
My best guess is that if you have already gone to the derm. and they haven't given you anything yet, then they probably don't ave something. But really, you should always ask.Can the dermatologist give you a cream to get ride of acne scars and dents. !!12 points!!?
They can give you a cream containing retinol if they think it will help your situation. If they are indented it will probably take a laser procedure. I had the laser done and it works great. It is a little expensive but was well worth it too me. They also have great fillers they can inject, these have came a long way in the last few years. Problem is they only last anywhere from 6 months to a year.

    Does dermatologist use lasers?

Hello everyone, so I would like this mole of mine to be removed, but after reading a lot of what people have said, some say that going to the dermatologist is the best thing but does dermatologist mean exactly the same thing as getting a mole removed by using laser or is laser and dermatologist 2 different things?

P.s. if its different things..which one is safer to leave no scars?Does dermatologist use lasers?
A dermatologist can use a laser but usually they slice it off with a scalpel after they numb the area. It will not leave a scar if done correctly.

i have red bumps and some white heads and black headsI was per-scribed by the dermatologist penicillin how long does it take to work?
Welcome to modern medicine. It will take a few minutes to start doing the job it was designed to do. Kill bacteria.

After you take one pill, you will get the booby prize as a result of destroying over 3/4 of your immune system, your intestinal flora (friendly bacteria). The bacteria on your skin is NOT the problem and taking the antibiotic may help reduce the problem at first, but the so called ';side effects'; of that action is very damaging to the body.

    When you kill the intestinal flora, you set yourself up for many other problems. To treat acne with antibiotics is just showing the lack of understanding how the body works and the lack of understanding nutrition and why you are getting the acne in the first place. It is a very lazy way of treating the symptoms without having to look for the ';root cause.';

Treating the symptoms, like giving you antibiotics, will cause you to need treatment on a continuous basis for several years. If you get rid of the ';root cause,'; a few weeks will get rid of the problem, but there is no money in solving the problem.

    good luck to you

healthquotes.awardspace.info - here is my health insurance plan. As I remember they can provide such a service. Is mole removal covered by insurance if the dermatologist does NOT think it's cancerous?
My PCP Dr. removed mine and it was covered by my insurance. He did it right in his office. He removed one on my forehead and I'm going to see if he can remove these two that I have on my neck. It's all about how your Dr. writes it up to the insurance company.....if it's irritated, sore or bleeding because it's in an awkward spot on your body to where it gets bumped or rubbed alot....then you ought to be able to have it removed and it be covered under your insurance. Is mole removal covered by insurance if the dermatologist does NOT think it's cancerous?
No because then it is considered cosmetic surgery.
It all depends on insurance. My insurance is very stict but they cover removals of any kind. It also might be affected by your age.

Many insuance companies will just to prevent it from becoming cancerous. So I would say in most cases yes, but ask your doctor or call the agency.

Like every other doctor, you need to go to medical school. What do I need to know to become a dermatologist?how much school?
You need to know all about the skin and if there are certain skin ailments that you cannot stand to see(certain types of scars or whatever)... it's prob not a good idea to get into dermatology.

You'll have to go to med school and to get into med school, gotta take MCATsWhat do I need to know to become a dermatologist?how much school?
their knowledge is only skin deep, so not much school....only 8 years of med. school
College (undergrad) will take about 4-5 years. Med school is another 4 years. Another 4 years of internship and residency before you become a dermatologist.

That amount is about right for a lot of types of doctors.
Four years of college. Then four years of medical school. Then you need to get into a residency for dermatology -- which should take about another three years.

    Eleven years all together.
you need to go to medical school just like every other doctor. Then you concentrate during your residency in dermatology. You are looking at 8 years of school and then a 4 year residency, and then you can consider private practice.
    12 years.

    4 college

    4 medical school

    4 residency

Good luck trying to get a dermatology residency. It goes to the top person in every medical school class... if s/he is LUCKY.

It is THE most competitive residency to get.

My dermatologist pescribed me Accutane for my acne. Is it really dangerous to take?

I took it 10 years ago. It was a godsend for me. Just stay out of the sun...really...as in you'll burn! Also, your lips will become very dry. I recomend a product called DCT (Daily Care Therapy) made by Blistex. I comes in a jar, rather than a tube. A pharmacist suggested this to me b/c merely applying ';stick'; lip balm tore my lips up. You will also need a blood test every month to check your liver enzymes (Accutane is pretty tough on the old liver). You can't drink alcohol, or take Vitamin A supplements while on Accutane therapy. Of course, if you are a woman, you MUST take every precaution not to be, or become pregnant before and during your course of treatment. Follow all of these, and I think you will be ok. I have many friends who have taken it as well. None have had nay problems to my knowledge. It's something you must weigh the risks vs. benefits. It is truly a miracle drug. I tried everyting; minocycline, tetracycline, erythromycin (orally and topically), salicylic acid, and every OTC benzoyl peroxide product in existence; all with minimal results. Within 6 weeks on Accutane, I had NOT ONE pimple. Good luck!My dermatologist pescribed me Accutane for my acne. Is it really dangerous to take?
Be very careful with it. There are many side effects. It can hurt your liver, raise your cholesterol, cause depression, give you night blindness, make your skin very sensitive, and cause birth defects. I had to take accutane twice. It cleared up my cystic acne. The first time I took it i had no side effects other than my skin being sensitive. The second time around, I ended up having depression. Fortunately, it only lasted a month and I was taken off accutane. Be very careful!!!!!!!!!!My dermatologist pescribed me Accutane for my acne. Is it really dangerous to take?
There are many cheap and effective home remedies for acne. Tomato slices, turmeric, papaya juices and home made face packs will treat existing pimples and prevent further problems. More remedies at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/acne.html
Yes, it is a dangerous drug. You may want to find that rare doctor that has the knowledge and desire to find the CAUSE of you acne. The first place a knowledgeable doctor will look is at the health and function of your gut.

    Best wishes and good luck.
Doctors are so annoying. Accutane is an amazing drug that has had a really bad reputation. But don't worry, if you have bad acne, take it and you won't be dissapointed. Just make sure you can afford moisturizer!
i have really bad acne but my doc gave me pills called tetralysal i know this wont answer ur question but i know how deppresed u can get from spots a used to get terrible acny coverd head to toe and aslong as i take those pills a get the odd 1 or 2 a month ask ur gp about them
My sister and I both took it when we each turned 15. We turned out fine.

You shouldn't have it if you're pregnant or are about to become pregnant.

Or if you have any sort of liver desease. Or consume alot of alcohol.

The only side effects that my sister and I had were dry skin and mouth. I had to put skin cream on twice a day. And I had to constantly sip water.

This is just my experience, but you shoulld talk to your doctor about the exact risks involved; and then speak to another doctor to see if the risks match up.

P.S. If it was really dangerous to take, the FDA wouldn't allow it's consumption.

Does anyone know why it takes 3 months to get in to see the dermatologist? I called to make an appointment?

and they said they schedule appointments in 3 months???Does anyone know why it takes 3 months to get in to see the dermatologist? I called to make an appointment?
That seems ridiculous, but I know it can happen. Ask about cancelation lists. They have cancelations all the time and if you can get on that list then you can probably get an appointment within 2 weeks fairly easily. Good luck.Does anyone know why it takes 3 months to get in to see the dermatologist? I called to make an appointment?
    well its pretty packed.

i just went to the dermo. but i had to wait a month!
It 's probably just that particular doctor, see if you can find another one in your area that could get you in sooner.
    sounds like a good/popular doc.
No i dont , it takes me 2 weeks.

Dermatologist appointment this week....,no clue on what to expect.?

I decide to go see a dermotologist given my acne problem quickly increasing over the last 3 months.

I want to ask what type treatments am I going to expect given my price range is only up to $300. What's the name...and is it effective? Name more than one if you can. ThanksDermatologist appointment this week....,no clue on what to expect.?
the app't will only last about 5 minutes with the actual dermatologist. It only takes them that long to diagnosis what treatment you will need... but pls note that the creams, antiobiotics that they will prescribe are VERY expensive and you will have to return after a couple of mos to re-diagnosis the treatment. but it is worth it!!! I just wish that i had gone sooner... even if you are not able to afford the treatment, let your dr know this and maybe they can help with the cost or give you some free trial sizes to see how you react to them and if they are worth you purchasing full sizes.. don't be scared!!! it was the easiest dr app't i have ever had! Dermatologist appointment this week....,no clue on what to expect.?
Your question didn't state whether you were seeing a general practioner already for acne and what you have used. For this instance, I will assume you haven't. Therefore, on your first visit to the derm you will be asked to fill out a brief med history, and then you will be screened by your derm. He/she will look at your skin, ask you what treatments you have been using. They will discuss options with you...generally they will go with the least invasive treatments first. Topical medications anything form benzoyl peroxide %26amp; sulfur meds all the way to topical antibiotics and retin-a. Depending on the type of acne you have they may even prescribe an oral medication/antibiotic.

If your acne is more severe and doesn't respond to general treatment, then your derm will discuss other options such as light/laser therapy, etc.

Make sure that you ask questions during your appointment and if you are prescribed medication that you follow the guidelines. For instance with some acne meds you have to be very careful with sun exposure, or some you shouldn't get pregnant while using them.

When a Dermatologist Removes a mole from your face/nose...?

do they put you under anaesthetic? What I mean to say is, do they knock you out? Or do they simply numb the area where the mole is being removed? When a Dermatologist Removes a mole from your face/nose...?
they just numb the areaWhen a Dermatologist Removes a mole from your face/nose...?
They just numb the area. Generally, they only ';put you under'; for major surgery, as there is always risk associated with anesthesia.
They numb the area. I've known people who had it done.

Can a dermatologist take a look at these pictures and tell me whats wrong with me Please?

http://s640.photobucket.com/albums/uu130/bgood27/Can a dermatologist take a look at these pictures and tell me whats wrong with me Please?
Sorry, not going to be able to tell from pictures like that. All I can make out is some bumps. It might be acne, or it could be some sort of dermatitis. It is sometimes hard to differentiate skin disorders on dark-skinned people, because color changes are not as obvious as with pale people.

You'll need a doctor to look at that and probably feel it. Depending on what they see and feel, they might take a scraping and look under a microscope, to rule out any parasites. Can a dermatologist take a look at these pictures and tell me whats wrong with me Please?
hard to tell in the pictures but it looks like acne. wash skin frequently with soap and water. keep hands off of face. hands carry a lot of bacteria. buy an over the counter acne product (generic is fine)
It looks like it might be a rash from poison oak. Did you go camping recently? O.o

    Should I see a dermatologist?

I have a mole on my skin about the size of a dime. It is flat, but a tad bit more raised from the rest of my skin.... I have had it for as long as I can remember, so I don't think it is cancerous, but could I be wrong? Should I see a dermatologoist?Should I see a dermatologist?
ABCD's of moles. Asymmetrical-Is it odd shaped? If you folded it in half would it match on each side? Border-are the edges uneven? Color-Is it different colored in spots or has it changed color? Dimension-is it bigger than a pencil eraser?

In my experience ABC are more important than D, so I wouldn't be worried. Watch it close to check for changes in color or size, and if it does go see someone.Should I see a dermatologist?
Yes, definitely. Chances are it is not cancerous, but you can't put a price on piece of mind. It is such a relief to hear it is benign firsthand from a doctor.

While you are there, you should also have the doc inspect your back, arms, or anywhere else you have moles, just to be safe. To get your money's worth out of the visit, have him/her check anything you think is even a little suspicious.

    Best wishes.
i doubt it is cancerous because when they are they start to turn like a greenish brown color

but u should probably visit a dermatologist anyways because there are so many skin things these days!
Bigger than a pencil eraser? Yes, see a dermatologist.

  • What are the advantages of being a Skin Specialist (Dermatologist)?

    My friend says:

    1. There won't be any emergency calls.

    2. Nobody dies of skin problem.

    3. Skin diseases seldom get cured!

Do you agree? Give interesting answers, please. What are the advantages of being a Skin Specialist (Dermatologist)?

Your skin is always more fabulous than everyone else!

    http://asianskincare.wetpaint.com/
    Yes i agree.!!!
Actually, on number 2 you are wrong. People die from skin cancer all the time. I don't think that's funny. What if you went to your regular physician and had a serious problem, and they just laughed it off and said, ';Oh, you're going to die in a few months. Sorry about that. You'll get my bill'; - would you be so happy then? The REAL advantages of being a Dermatologist would be to make your patients happy by finding skin cancers EARLY so that they won't die. A real Dermatologist would have empathy for their patient, and help them to CURE their skin problem, whether it was acne or eczema or anything else. Physicians take the Hippocratic Oath- to HELP their patients, not rip them off.

My dermatologist prescribed me Accutane! I'm going to be on it for 5 months. Anyone taken ACCUTANE ?

I'm nervous to start the treatment.

Has anyone taken accutane or know others taking the accutane medication?? I so how was the outcome and symptoms??

23 yr old femaleMy dermatologist prescribed me Accutane! I'm going to be on it for 5 months. Anyone taken ACCUTANE ?
There is this new popular cream that people have been talking about.

It was even televised on TV.

It prevents future and existing acne, diminishes scars, and lightens skin and blemishes. Fast results too! (It's been claimed that major results can be seen within a week and no later than two weeks)

Before and After photos are available at the given ebay site.

This person is providing 1-3 week trial samples (Only for ONE DOLLAR.. definitely a deal) on ebay at:

Search up ';Cee En's Acne Solution'; or ';best acne solution ever'; on ebay.

First 100 customers can get the item for $1 for one week trial and up to 3 weeks. Or you can purchase 1 month supply for $40 or 6 month supply for $160

It's expensive, but the product DOES work.

My sister and cousin who both have major acne have tried the product and they both give it thumbs up. I have also heard many great feedbacks about this cream.

I don't have a problem with acne, but it seems to have great results on my sister who has moderate to severe acne. Her acne swelling went away overnight.

I hope this helps. =)My dermatologist prescribed me Accutane! I'm going to be on it for 5 months. Anyone taken ACCUTANE ?
It works really well in most patoents but expect to get a degree of dry mouth, eyes and lips. These are managable but annoying. You must NOT get pregnant while on the drug and for at least 6 months after

My ambition is to be a dermatologist but the problem is i'm afraid of handling dead bodies...?

Recently my dad joke about how derma student have to handle dead bodies. Is it true??My ambition is to be a dermatologist but the problem is i'm afraid of handling dead bodies...?
Medical students do have to study the human body. I think you should find out from a college or university exactly what's required for dermatology... I know a LOT of stuff... but I'm not sure about this...so go straight to the experts. BTW...my Dad used to take me to his cadaver class when he was in school...and it wasn't bad at all! Good luck! Hugs, Gina C.My ambition is to be a dermatologist but the problem is i'm afraid of handling dead bodies...?
No, your dad was only kidding, dermatologist treat alive people, not dead ones, their profession is about skin only, only morticians handle dead bodies.
Surely you have some idea about what a dermatologist is, don't you? A dermatologist is a doctor of skin diseases. He or she doesn't have anything to do with dead bodies, and your father is a jerk to say what he did. Obviously, he doesn't know crap about dermatology, either!
I've never heard of that for derm school, but for med school I had to go through that. Not as bad as you would think. I didn't eat before hand, just in case I would get sick, but it was really no big deal. It's just a person.

Don't let your fears get in the way of your dreams!!!
    maybe in medical school
all medical students no matter what field you go in must see and do exams on dead bodies.. just cove the face with a cloth and think of it as a big chicken...
dermatologists work with mostly live people
Most folks I've seen were still breathing...the other's were merely questionable (actually, it turned out they were breathing, too).
yes its true. so perhaps your ambition is not really thought out.
not quite true that you will be handeling dead bodies you will have to disect and animal maybe i doubt a body because thats some1s family member and they just dont let any ole shmo disect people plus you said your dad was joking!
Yes, it's true. The class is called gross anatomy and it is required in Medical school.

I've never met a dermatologist I would brag about.

My dermatologist said that laser hair removal isn't 100% permanent so how long does it generally last?

it varies depending on where this hair is, how thick it is, and your skin type. So you can't really tell unless you get your skin examined first. My dermatologist said that laser hair removal isn't 100% permanent so how long does it generally last?
First you must shave the area. Then the person will use a machine on the hair in that area. The hair will fall out within 1-2.5 weeks. The hair WILL grow back. It takes more than one treatment to get rid of the hair. In my experience, I haven't heard of anyone in the long run having the hair return after they did enough treatments for it to disappear.

Incidentally, I waxed my legs for several years, and certain patches also never grew back.

I learned that the once the hair falls out through laser or is ripped out through waxing, the root must work to regrow the entire hair over again. (Not like with shaving where you just cut it off at the surface but the hair root remains in tact.)

The first person to reply is correct.

It also depends on the thickness and colouring of your hair/skin. Certain hair colours will leave room for more scarring with laser. Plus, if you hair is very thick or course, it could take much longer to stop growing back.

Does anyone know a dermatologist or surgeon in the UK (or US) who works on black skin?

I have a dark patch on my skin which refuses dissapear, ive tried every cream under the sun to no avail. I spoke to a dermatologist at BUPA but she said that becuase I have black skin laser treatment would make the situation worse, and would only work on white/light skinned people. There must be some solution out there which is why I ask for places in the US if there really is none in the UK. ThanksDoes anyone know a dermatologist or surgeon in the UK (or US) who works on black skin?
Laser treatment on black skin generally leads to much lighter or much darker pigmentation problems occuring, so yes your skin would look alot worse.

If you look hard enough you will find a doc who will do it for you. You will find one on Harley Street, problem is they will make you sign a disclaimer and then when your skin looks really bad you will be left to deal with it.

Do what I did, I had bad scarring on my skin. Go to Boots or Superdrugs and buy this product called Bio Oil. It lasts ages and is æ‹¢5-æ‹¢9 depending on what size you get. Rub it into your dark patch twice a day or even 3 times if you are able to.

Give it 2 months and guarantee if your patch aint gone it will be significantly lighter. If you don't believe me go to google and put in the words bio oil and reviews and find some reviews somewhere and read. Anyway it worked for me and I hope it will work for you.

If you are determined to get a treatment of some sort then have a look at this old article for some places you can go...

    Infectious Diseases Specialist vs Dermatologist?

Which seems to you like a better profession and why?

Also, why do dermatologist usually get paid more than ID specialists?Infectious Diseases Specialist vs Dermatologist?
Umm, I imaging they make about the same, perhaps only slight differences. The only real difference is that infectious disease doctors often serve in a more research role, (=less salary) and many dermatologists are actually more like cosmetic specialists especially in CA (=more salary). If I had to choose, I would choose infectious diseases, I think they make more of a difference.

I'm going to see a dermatologist soon. What should I expect?

Going in to confirm whether or not I have rosacea. What should I expect when I get my check up? What are their procedures like?I'm going to see a dermatologist soon. What should I expect?
I went for the same thing. They stare at your face for 30 seconds then ask you a few questions. How long....what aggravates...what have you tried already.....then they right you a prescription for either a cream, gel or antibiotics or all. Be sure that if you are on anything like birth control to inform your doctor. The antibiotics can make them not affective.

Yes, a dermatologist can order the correct products for skin bleaching if he feels it is the right treatment for your problem. He will also determine the strength of the product...you can't request it so there is nothing to gain by asking ';how strong of a bleach'; you can get.

Be aware, the dermatologist may determine that bleaching is not the option for you and that it might make the situation worse. He will tell you what all your options are based on your skin type and the degree of pigmentation. Please see a dermatologist and good luck!

Yeah I do. I would definetely go to a dermatologist, wash your face with a cleanser every morning and night. That should help you! Besides, if you are in your teens (which IDK if you are), your acne should go away once your body matures a bit.
yes try proactive...take a before picture before starting..and in 2 weeks take another....then 4 weeks..then @ the end of 90 days....drink water...eat green veggies...but ya know ya gotta be on top of it....don't skip a day if u can't cleanse the same time daily @ least do it some time during the day
If you don't have any major scarring caused by your acne, there is a good chance that your skin will clear up. Just make sure to eat healthy, drink water, and avoid piling on loads of makeup. Good luck!
Probably. Some drugs are pretty good.

Very possible. My acne was never absolutely horrible, but it wasnt great. Now I have amazing skin.

What should i major in, in college, if i want to be a dermatologist?

please does anyone have a good answer?

i really don't want to major in things that i will not be a benefitWhat should i major in, in college, if i want to be a dermatologist?
Dermatology and pre-med are not majors. You can major in whatever you want as long as you complete your med school prerequisites.

If I may make a suggestion, you may want to consider a business major in administration or marketing. Dermatologists usually have private practices and med school doesn't teach a single thing on how to run a business. Having a business degree can help you out run your practice much smoother. What should i major in, in college, if i want to be a dermatologist?
    Pre-med

But, you also need to speak to medical school admissions and ask what they prefer. THAT will be the best place to get a true answer. And please don't worry about ';bothering'; these people. It's their job. And those who ask questions of the right people are the ones who get the furtherest.

Also, you might ask the advisers are the undergrad school which major has the most graduates attend medical school. Ask this of every school you talk to. Best of luck!
    you should major in dermatology!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!…

Is there an easier way of becoming a dermatologist?

i do not undertand why i have to go to like 10 year of schooling after my highchool schooling to become a dermatologit

i mean, i'm not going to do open heart surgery or nothing like that?

anyrubbish, is there an eaier way to become a dermatologist...Is there an easier way of becoming a dermatologist?
it seems to me that u dont have any idea how much it takes to become a dermatologist or a physician. Not being rude here but just upfront. And dermatology is one of the toughest specialties to match into let alone getting into medschools.

If u really have a passion for it, i dont think 10 years would stand in your way. If u are into it for the money, its not worth it. Try investment banking. Peace. Is there an easier way of becoming a dermatologist?
Well, to be a dermatologist you have to go to medical school. Which means 4 years of pre med at college, taking the MCAT, 2 years med school and then 2 years as an intern.

However, you might possibly be able to become a physcian's assistant which is a two years program and you could probably work in a dermatologists office and do 80% of what the doctor does. PA programs are only 2 years and are easier, but you'll get paid less.

Or you could go into nursing.
No. If you want to become a doctor, then you have to do the schooling and training required for that. It IS a big investment of time, effort and money - if you don't have the dedication, you'll never make it.
A dermatologist prescribes medicine, so they have to go through the entire medical program. In fact, dermatology is a special program that must be completed after med school.

I want to find a African American Dermatologist in New Jersey or New York?

Do you need to see a Dermatologist to help fix acne or can you just see a normal doctor?

Okay so my friend said she needed to see a dermatologist but we don't have any in our town and she didn't want to travel really far out of town, and so we were both wondering if normal doctors can help even if they're not dermatologistsDo you need to see a Dermatologist to help fix acne or can you just see a normal doctor?
If I were you or your friend, I would go to see your physician (regular doctor) and ask for a list of recommended dermatologists or even to talk about your acne. Your physician has a degree in pretty much 'general' health care and they maybe could help you. You never know. Do you need to see a Dermatologist to help fix acne or can you just see a normal doctor?
dermatologists specialize in skin. they're the ones you have to see. a regular doctor can't be as specific about acne because it's not their specialty. good luck!
i just went to a normal doctor for mine and its working

Should I still visit a dermatologist?

Well, I have mild acne, not bad but not perfect. I wanted to go ahead and visit a dermatologist to get everything cleared out. Do they really help with acne, or should I really not worry about it?Should I still visit a dermatologist?
only if they are unbearable and causing you depression and social isolation, if not, just wash your face with salicylic acid based face wash and use only non comedogenic moisturizers that are water based if you use some. controlling your face grease is key, so you might want to wash your face several times in the day but use the non-comedogenic moisturizer to prevent overdrying, this should keep your face clean and lessen irritation of your sebaceous glands. dermatologists will only overmedicate you or give you the same advice i just did, goodluck

  • What courses do you need in highschool to become a dermatologist?

Talk to your counselor. Some high schools have a different curriculum for college bound students. What you take in high school really doesnt matter as far as your college work goes. I would suggest though that you do take as many of the upper lever math, writing, and science as you can to prepare you for the work you will have to do when you get into college. I.E. If you can substitute a Data and Probability Class for a math credit instead of taking Calculus or Trig. Do not do it. Take those harder classes. It will pay off. I didn't and wish that I had. Also, if you can take Advanced Placement classes, do it and take the exam for college credit. What courses do you need in highschool to become a dermatologist?
Though paying attention to things like Biology and Chemistry while you are in H.S. definitely can help you while preparing for College. What courses do you need in highschool to become a dermatologist?
You wont take courses until you get your undergrad course work in college. They are not going to look at your highschool classes.
U NEED PHYSICS ,CHEMISTRY BIOLOGY,ENGLISH...N NE OTHER SUB OF UR CH OISE..like biotech..maths
it's college courses that count. Get good grades in HS and take A LOT of chemistry is college

How do you know if you need a dermatologist?

i have bumps on my face and yes i think it sorta interferes with my social life. i was wondering when it is a good time to get a dermatologist or if there are any products i can use. my biggest problem are razor bumps and white heads so if there is anything that will help with that please do tell! How do you know if you need a dermatologist?
    1. Exfoliate the whitehead prone area 3-4 times a week using facial exfoliators and scrubs.

    2. Use creams containing AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Fruit acids) like glyco-creams that will clear away any dead skin cells, and helps in unclogging the pores to remove whiteheads

Is there anything GOOD to prevent pimples? But Without going to a dermatologist?

Well guys, I've been getting pimples for no reason since I was 10, and I'm 20 now.

I eat healthy, I sleep healthy, no chocolates or fats, I drink water, no soda. I exercise regularly. I do basically the OPPOSITE of what it takes to get pimples. And I'm not going through puberty.

So is there anything that prevents pimples/zits, I want it to REALLY WORK, but I don't want to go to a dermatologist. Is there anything GOOD to prevent pimples? But Without going to a dermatologist?
Start washing your face with AcneFree. It's kind of like pro-active, but you can buy it at pretty much any store. It's a 3-step kit, and it's really good. It's what I use, and my acne seems to stay away.Is there anything GOOD to prevent pimples? But Without going to a dermatologist?
I use tea tree oil products for my face and it works wonders. I don't have a lot of pimples, but when I do get the odd one or two, I use the tea tree oil products I bought and it helps so much. You can find tea tree oil products at any body shop around you. I would highly recommend it. They also have lots of different kinds you can buy. I have blotting papers, that take away the oil from you face to prevent pimples, and also this cream you but on before bed and it gets rid of your pimples.

Also, my friend bought the Pro-active stuff off of the over played commercials on T.V and she says that is works really well too.

    Either way, good luck :]
I don't think the reason of your pimples is because of your daily activities. Some people are just Born with acne, so called.

But, you could try getting acne treatment at many drug stores.

For me, I have irregular sleep hours, I eat whatever i want, and exercise sometimes, but I don't get any pimples at all.

So i think its just your body structure.

Just, wash your face when you wake up, and before you sleep and use a gentle cleanser and see if it helps.

If it still doesn't I highly recommend you see a dermatologist.
I'm a big believer in Proactiv. I've been using it for a few years now and my skin is soooo healthy. My mom actually bought it for me at first and I was reluctant to use it because I'd already tried a ton of other face washes. But I love the way it makes my skin feel. It also helped with acne scars and it makes my face feel smoother and it minimizes pores as well. I know I sound like a walking commercial but I really do believe that it's the best stuff out there. The imitation stuff works OKAY. But Proactiv, for me, is the best. I hope you find something!
Suck it up, and just go to the dermatologist it is def. worth it. I had awful acne when I was younger, went to the derm. and he rubbed a bunch of medication and shined special lights at my face and within a week ALL acne was gone, it stayed that way too, as long as i kept using the face wash, and ointment he gave me until I grew out of it.
Well, considering that you're through puberty and stuff then it might be genetic. An acne system that many people use, including myself, is Proactive. There are a lot out there, and some work better on different people. It would be best to go to a dermatologist to see which better suits your skin.
WELL I KNOW A BUNCH A WAYS AND IM 13 WELL I ONLY TELL U THE CHEAPEST WAY IF U HAVE A POOL SWIM IN IT OR IF UR FRIEND HAS A POOL then swim in it cause the chlorine drys out ur skin and it will get rid of those god dang zits/pimples.it doesnt prevent them it just gets rid of them wen u have em if u wanna prevent em then idk use some ohh shoot wat do u call it idk i forget wat it called it a certain soap to prevent it aint expensive hope that sort of helps and hope u can find a pool lol it worked for me
My mother told me when i was younger that if you use rubbing alcohol it drys out the skin on the face so that the oils do not cause pimples, but it leaves your skin dry, so if you use maybe a little bit of rubbing alcohol and then some Loation it may help and be very cheep, but the anti bacterial soap like dial works well to if you use it often.
The dermatologist would tell you that it is less what you eat and more caused by your own body. Some people get them no matter what they do. Obviously keeping your skin clean will help, you can exfoliate and use good cleansers and spot treat problems with salycylic acid.
then you should really try and check out the Proactiv Solution products

its for both males and females, adults and teens...

in my opinion itd be your best bet

    check out this website

    http://www.proactiv.net/cneng/?uci=oca101%26amp;s_kwcid=proactive

(you should at least take a peek at the 'real stories' section, and the 'proactiv system' section of that website- im sure you'll be intrigued)

Actually,ur food that u eat might have oil in it and if u have 2 much oil u get pimples. Also if u dont wash ur face or use face wash and eat foods with oils u get pimples/acne.

Also if this has been goin on 10 years u need 2 go to a doctor or dermotologist.
I would definitely suggest you try SWISS glutathione bar. Its actually a soap intended for skin lightening but it really works well against pimples and the maks they leave behind! it dries them out easily in just 2-3days! a lot of people buy it for that purpose even if they dont have to lighten their skin. check out

It's likely that your pores are more active than those of most people. Acne Free and Proactive are very effective formulas for preventing breakouts and healing old breakouts. It helps to balance the skin while killing bacteria that tend to pile up around your pores.
Try the acne pads you can get at a local pharmacy or proactiv, I use it and have no problems, but if that works sorry to say you should really see a dermatologist. It isn't a bad thing.
Try rubbing alcohol on a tissue. Do not get it in your eyes!!!

I suggest going to the doctor and talking about antibiotics, and benzoyl peroxide.

Every time i have to take antibiotics It clears me right up
wash with anti bacterial soap 3x a day and also control the oil on your face.

sometimes even that wont help, its really all about hormones.
Or ... you could go to a dermatologist.

  • I am going to see a dermatologist for my skin....?

What are some good medicines that will clear up my mild acne on my face and chest fast that i can inquire about? Thanks!I am going to see a dermatologist for my skin....?
The dermatologist will prescribe you something based on your condition. Im using clindoxyl which is working great for my face. I was on retin a before but it dried up my skin. He will prescibe something for you and if it irritates your skin he can give you something else. Good luck.I am going to see a dermatologist for my skin....?
The medications they will want to give you will most likely be antibiotics. The stronger they are, the more unhealthy they will be. You should try something natural like burdock and tea tree oil. Also, green tea is good to use topically for acne. Good luck.
Antibiotics (such as clindamycin), Retinoids (such as Differin or Tazorac), BenzaClin, or Azaelic Acid (such as Finacea). If none of those work you can try Accutane. Oh, if you are female you can also try birth control pills.

    Hi there

Sounds like milia, it is not dangerous or anything. May I hazard a guess and ask whether you are a bit overweight? Milia is more commonly seen in overweight people, and usually goes away if you loose some weight. You can also try a cream/lotion with urea in it, it sometimes helps as well. Please don't misunderstand me, people with normal weight can also get it. Good luck
They are called Keratosis Pilaris and are actually very common. They are associated with sensitive skin and are best treated with a skin cream containing glycolic or lactic acid. Go to the following web site for more information.

How long does it take to become a certified dermatologist?

First you have to go to medical school, and then intern and do a residency before specializing in dermatology.

Can't say exactly how long, if you have no college at all at least 8 years. But this depends on your state, and largely on you. If your a freshman student or haven't started college yet consider pre-med.

Unfortunately, most dermatologists don't really help you much with acne. Most of our clients have already gone to derms and been very disappointed.

If the spots are actually dark there are some products that can help those to go away faster. If they are red, then they have to go away on their own. Nothing can help redness to go away but time.

If you want more help with this, send me an email at info@facerealityacneclinic.comWhat can a dermatologist do?
The dermatologist cant do anything because pimples are natural(part of life) and you just have to let them go away by theirselves...DONT BURST THEM BECAUSE ONCE YOU GET DARK SPOTS, THEY WONT GO AWAY FOR ABOUT 3 TO 4 MONTHS...MAYBE LONGER!!!

I have used just about EVERY acne system there is and nothing ever worked until I went to my gynecologist and she said Ortho-Tricyclen is a really good birth control pill that cures acne. And in about 2 months of taking it my skin was COMPLETELY FLAWLESS! It was because i had hormonal acne %26amp; the birth control evened out my hormones which caused my acne to go away. I am so much happier now so I would probably go to your doctor or gyno %26amp; asked to be put on it if your able to! but if your a guy try accutane because that reallly worked well for my friend %26amp; he has completely clear skin =] hope this helped

  • What course must i take to become a dermatologist? does it need a pre-med or something?

    Steps:

    1) Go to any 4 year college and major in anything, but take a pre-med core of classes to ready yourself for a med-school application. Do well in your classes.

    2) Prepare and take the MCAT, an entrance exam for med school.

    3) Apply to med school

    4) Attend and graduate med school

    5) Do a general intern

    6) Do a residency in dermatology.

A Dermatologist is a medical doctor so you need pre-med then medical school.

    First time dermatologist appt?

ok so im going to the dermatologist for the first time.i have mild acne. i am curious about what type of questions she will ask me and also if she will give me a prescription or product the first time i go or will i ahve to go back again? and did the dermatologist help you? how long until you saw results?First time dermatologist appt?
I've never gone in for acne, but usually they will take a look at your skin and try to figure out the root cause of the problem. In your case, there is more then one type of acne (not just white and black heads) so they will try to figure out what the best approach for you will be. It could be a prescription grade cream, antibiotics etc etc. She should give you either a trial tube of product to try and see if you like it before giving you a prescription, or she might just give you a prescription. (usually with acne stuff, they'll give you a sample first since its pretty harsh on your skin and not everyone likes the side effects. My brother went on some prescription cream and it burned him so he decided it wasn't worth the meager results he was seeing.) Don't be afraid to ask questions though, thats why they're there.First time dermatologist appt?
    I've been to 2 different derm's for acne; both asked me questions like ';do you have a history of acne in your family?'; and ';if so, do your family members have scarring from acne?'; and ';do you have skin cancer in your family's history? is today a good day for your skin? do you find you break out more a week or so before you get your period?';

    stuff like that!

Antibiotics would be my guess as to what she puts you on as well, but there are also topical creams such as stievamycin that work great, you may even be put on both. Yes, typically dermatologists like to see you come back to see how your skin is reacting to the medicine(s). Depending on what you are put on, results can usually be seen in 2 weeks or so, and full results within 2 months hopefully! good luck!
I Went to the dermatologist if he or she is a girl for you. i had a boy and he asked me question like.personal i dont talk you sould write it down but, the they will asked you personal question olny you can answer it. i have rash on my face i dont know what it is called but he asked me question Good Luck for you :)

    Clinical dermatologist trained in dermatopathology?

Is there any published material on the amount of derm dermatopathologists that consult with their patient and then also review the patients slide?

Should a patient look for this type of integrated approach?

Are there industry conferences/literature that focus on this type of practice?Clinical dermatologist trained in dermatopathology?
Large numbers of dermatologists are in fact also dematopathologists. As for whether or not you need to be able to go over this information with your doctor, it depends on the patient. If you want to be able to go over the slides with your doctor, the doctor should be willing to do it. And if he or she is not, then you should find a doctor who will.

Do Dermatologist hire Esthetician's to work for them?

Yes! I am a licensed Esthetician. I worked for a Dermatologist doing facials and laser treatments, microdermabrasion, vein therapies, and assisted (not performed) with injectables such as Botox and dermal fillers. The hours are great because most docs don't work on Saturdays:)

  • Should i take doryx without seeing a dermatologist first?

    that is up to you

    How to take Doryx

Follow all directions given to you by your doctor and pharmacist carefully.

They may differ from the information contained in this leaflet.

If you do not understand the instructions on the pack, ask your doctor or pharmacists for help.

    How much to take

Your doctor or pharmacist will tell you how many capsules you will need to take each day.

For treating infections, the usual dose of doxycycline is two 100 mg capsules on the first day, followed by one 100 mg capsule each day from then on.

For controlling acne, the usual dose is one 50 mg capsule each day.

For the prevention of malaria, the usual dose is one 100 mg capsule each day, commencing two days before entering the malarious area, during the visit, and for two weeks after leaving the area.

Your doctor may ask you to take a different dose, depending on your condition and how you react to the medicine.

    How to take it

Swallow the capsules whole with a full glass of water or milk while sitting or standing upright.

Do not lie down immediately after swallowing Doryx.

It is important to stay upright, for example sitting, standing or walking around for at least half an hour after swallowing your capsule. This is to help avoid irritation to your food pipe, also called the oesophagus.

    Do not chew the capsules.

    When to take it

Take your medicine at about the same time each day (usually in the morning).

Taking it at the same time each day will have the best effect. It will also help you to remember when to take it.

Take your medicine during or immediately after a meal.

If taken on an empty stomach, it may cause stomach upset.

    How long to take it

Continue taking your medicine until you finish the pack or for as long as your doctor recommends.

Keep taking this medicine for the full time of treatment even if you begin to feel better after a few days.

I live in Dallas TX I need to do go to a dermatologist for an allergy, dont have insurance where should I go?

There is a facility in Round Rock Texas, just south of Dallas that will do you so much more good than the dermatologist. And the cost will be very minimal. Call them at: (800) 370 - 3447 and talk to them about the particular allergy you have and they will help you.

depending on your ability to self pay for your visit, call local dermatologists to find out what they charge for the initial exam. If you're not able to pay privately then check your local listing under department of health and human services for a free or fee for service clinic. Most all counties have funding to pay for medically indigent persons.

I need to know of a dermatologist's advice on how to remove scars in both acne and chicken pox?

    I'm had acne for about 2 years...I'm 15

I've had chicken pox scars almost all my life...about 12-13 years (per say)

I HATE THEM!!!I need to know of a dermatologist's advice on how to remove scars in both acne and chicken pox?
I am not a dermatologist, however, I can say that if your parents choose to, there are treatments that can improve your skin's texture. Some of them are very extreme and require a lot of healing and some are less extreme. Microdermabrasion is a gradual skin polishing that can help and packages can be bought at any medical spa and even some beauty salons. Keep in mind that anything you do will be gradual and will take time. Unfortunately, skin issues DO NOT resolve themselves quickly.I need to know of a dermatologist's advice on how to remove scars in both acne and chicken pox?
as a registered nurse, i have to say there is no cream or lotions that will erase scars left by acne or chicken pox. if you have pigmented acne scar, there are few stuff out there that will lighten them to a ceratin degree but takes long time. (MAMA lotion). on the other hand, if you have scars that are pitted or dented, your best bet is to go see a dermatologist where they have several laser or fraxel, chemical peels and other options. the problem is that it is extremely expensive and requires several treatments. i had a consult 2 weeks ago myself and they recommended 3-4 intense pulse light treatments at 400 bucks each!! needless to say, my face still has scars.
