How can I find a good dermatologist in my area for laser treatments? I don't know anyone who had to go to one before. I had treatments in a salon last year, spent a lot of money but no results.I am getting desperate (and not even a housewife:)
Thanks for the answersDermatologist referral for laser treatments?
Well, there are many types of ';laser'; treatments: Pulse-Dye Laser, Smoothbeam/V-Beam, Intense-Pulse-Light, CO2, Erbium ... the list is long. Which one you need will depend on what you're trying to treat. Yes, going to a ';salon'; / medical-spa can be a mistake because they will provide you with whatever you are willing to pay for, and there is usually no customization/individualization made to the laser settings for your personal skin type. So, you are making a good decision to visit an actual dermatologist for a consultation first. My first suggestion would be to go to the AAD (American Academy of Dermatology) website, www.aad.org, and search there for a listing (just enter your zip code).
If you have insurance, you should also check your insurance company's listing of participating providers to make sure that the dermatologist accepts your insurance (although it won't pay for the laser treatment, it should pay for the doctor's visit/consultation, which will be a separate fee).
Good luck!
